Video Editing Software Recommendations
Hello all,
Right now I am using Video Charge Studio. I am having to many issues with the program over the last couple of years, just find it difficult to work right with issues with certain files not being able to convert, problems after upgrades etc... I am looking for alternatives , here is what I do 1. Need the ability to chop up videos and make clips 2. Ability to add watermarks (multiple) on the videos at different time frames 3. Ability to change video formats h264, flv, wmv, etc etc like to be able to do that all in one step as well, chopping, adding watermarks and video format change. Now I dont need anything super advanced , something quick and easy, am I willing to pay yes I am but I am not looking for some high end super video program with all the bells and whistles... just something simple and quick. |
Get Adobe Premiere. It's a big program but it will do what you want it to do and a heckuvalot more. Plus you don't need to buy it anymore - you can "rent" it with Adobe subscription-format payments. smart.

I like Pinnacle, really easy to use.
|
QuickTime 7 Pro. :2 cents:
|
Try Video Studio, it's too simple for using :)
|
For simple tasks Virtual Dub will do, it is very powerful, but I only recommend it as a second program!

vegas is the best I've used.

For a newbie or a pro Vegas is the best it is intuitive and will do everything you want PLUS you have plenty to grow with
|
Pinnacle Studio is cheap and easy to use but it won't make H.264
Have you tried Windows Movie Maker? |
Adobe Premiere elements is what you need premire is too much unless you are making hollywood blockbusters, elements is perfect and fast does all you need in one step. Its like 80 bux i think last time i paid for it.

Just to be clear I am not shooting movies and editing them...I am chopping up existing movies... |
|
video charge is running well with me and is very fast, you do the updates?
for easy effects and watermarks in differnt time frames i use AVS Video editor http://www.avs4you.com/ is very easy to use, all other complicated jobs i do with premiere |
I'm not sure if you already bought or not...but I'd highly recommend you check out the full line of Sony Vegas products. You might be able to use just the Vegas Movie Studio HD for what you are wanting to do, and it only costs $45.
Their products range from that $45 up to $599 for Vegas Pro. |
I like video charge studio as it is easy to use but its a bitch for me... freezing all the time... specially when going from wmv to h264, they answer to fix it is usually install a wack of codecs.. which dont seem to do a thing.... i looked into elments last night, though the support at adobe said not really good for what i am doing.. will look into vegas next

I have been learning FCP X and Avid Media Composer. There are lots of learning material available online for free or next to nothing.
After spending some time learning FCP X, it am definitely going to focus a more time on learning it from top to bottom. |

As I stated before I love the features of video charge and if it didnt freeze on me on a consistent basis on multiple computers and all their codex suggestions I would continue to use it happily.
Contacted sony multiple times on support sales side, no response after 4 or 5 emails over the last week... love it. |
Awesome advice, I use studio hd and it's perfect for my clipstores and the content I shoot
