An armoured truck security guard is on the run after allegedly shooting his partner in the head and vanishing with more than $2 million in cash.

Kenneth Konias Jr, 22, is accused of killing Michael Haines, 31, in the back of the truck after the men, both Garda Cash Logistics guards, had made several stops to collect money.

Haines was discovered dead in the truck when it was found idling under a bridge in Pittsburgh on Tuesday afternoon"

Make it look like a kidnapping, bury the money, rig something to shoot yourself in the leg at a distance further than you could shoot yourself from, handcuff yourself and get found shortly after. Get tried, walk, sell your story, book deal, dig up the money 6 years later and move away on the book deal money.

It's always been the case that the chance of getting caught increases with the complexity of the plan, but the new scientific tools/forensic knowledge available to LEA is fucking crazy these days.

I wonder if they were both in on it and at the last minute he decided 50/50 wasn't going to happen. I don't see any other reason why he had to kill the guy. He could have KO'd him or tasered him.

The potential for incidents like this is why one of my companies was hired to install a 4 camera system in every vehicle that is part of the armoured fleet of a client.

The system feeds live video and GPS tracking over 3G and also has an onboard tamper proof DVR. One of the cameras covers the driver's cab (with a partial view through the front windshield), two cover the interior of the rear cab and the last covers an outside rear view over the rear door.

Any time those trucks leave the compound they have to maintain contact every 5-10 minutes with the dispatchers, even though they are being watched through the live feed.

There are other security protocols that they have as well...Let's just say that they don't mess around.

Killing your co-workers is good work if you can get away with it.

He killed a man for $2.3 million, a huge amount of money. He is on the run and has not been found – this is dangerous. With more money he is more powerful. The dead body was found. Perhaps it was found too late.
