Anyone here cowork?
After 12 years of working from home, albeit different ones, cabin fever has set in and I'm starting to look into the possibility of coworking to help break the monotony of home working.
Does anyone here cowork and if so how are you finding it? |
Thought about it once, but never did anything about it.... :( :(

My team all work from our homes, and I'm starting to find it tough. At first it was great, but stir crazy is starting to sneak in. I miss the group effort thing, and find that at home makes it easy for me to become lazy, forcing me to stay up late to get stuff done and blurring the lines between work-life and home/play life.
We had planned to move into space in February but the place I really wanted is still occupied. I have started looking around in Montreal for some great office space, but haven't found what I want yet. The idea space is commercial, downtown, in a professional, creative environment, without controlling overlords snooping in on our business. In the past we had spaces in Old Montreal (Loft style, Brick walls, Wood Floors etc) but I've had enough of that. Charming buildings disguise shitty plumbing & electrical wiring, inadequate cooling and heating, and in some cases, below-code construction. Fuck that noise - I want to be pampered now, and I don't want to be distracted from work to fix a leaky faucet. If anyone else in Montreal is looking to pool resources, let me know. We need room for 5 desks and at least 1 private room for a studio. We would be willing to co-habitate with other web companies whom we can do business with such as photographers, videographers, billers, traffic gurus, affiliate managers, recruiters or any business which complements our own and vice-versa. |

I live in Israel, so not much relevant stuff there, but I looked around locally and found few nice places, all within a 30-60 minute drive. I think I'll give it a try, once I gather enough work for my mainstream stuff, I don't think adult would be very welcome there :upsidedow:upsidedow |
Never heard of this concept before, looking into possibilites around my area now.
Thanks for this thread:) |
fUCK YOU WRONG THREAD...

wow, those are pretty cheap. Looks like a desk at one of these runs about 50-70 a month in my area.

I have had an office in my house and one a few miles away to "get away" from being at the house all the time ... Flash forward a few months out and I was mostly at home again as the commute, inclement weather and also the "hidden" costs ( Going out to lunch with the team, walking out for a coffee break ) crept up.
My advice: Have a set start and set end time to your workday at the home office. Also make it point to leave the room you work in when NOT working... while your best computer rig may be in the office .. take your laptop, tablet, smart phone or whatever and get out of the room. Also add in a few days where you do things outside... Food shopping, dry cleaners, etc. For me: Having a set schedule and a routine of working + living apart in the same space has been fantastic... |
I've thought about it. I have a bunch of artist/designer friends who have a great studio space, so I'm thinking about it.
