Wondering who owns any arcade machines here? What are they like to maintain? Spare parts?

Daytona USA is my fave arcade game of all time probably. Used to spend fortunes in those things back in the day.

Just recently got it for the PS3. FINALLY, an 'arcade perfect' version after suffering the Saturn and Dreamcast versions. (ok the Dreamcast one wasn't too terrible). Yes i know why buy an arcade machine if i have an 'arcade perfect' version on console? Well, some things you just want.

What you got ??

I have a mame setup. An original unit would be nice but I figured I would get bored of just one game. This way I can have thousands in one cabinet.

Growing up as a kid we had a Star Trek pinball machine. We got it for Christmas one year, and is in our basement. It was great - we were the only kids in town to have our own pinball machine.

Through out the years a few things broke, and we either fixed them ourselves or just ignored it - small things like a bumper wouldn't work. Years after I had left the house I heard the glass shattered but I don't remember why, and I never did know what happened to it. My folks divorced and I never asked.

I wouldn't mind having one of those all-in-one games.

Yes, i own a 6 slot NEOGEO arcade cabinet and it's great...
I also have a Pinball 2000 Revenge from Mars as well..

Lonely immortal 03-06-2012 12:27 PM

I've always wanted to own Operation Wolf. The first ever arcade machine I saw with a gun on it. I played it as a kid on Holiday and spent all my money in one day on it. Never did make it past the second level but I was hooked lol.

Maybe someday I'll have the money... :)

mauno31 03-06-2012 12:29 PM

I start building my own arcade machine next month. :)

A kindred spirit !

At the risk of encuring the wrath of the GFY mods, I wont 'link' to my fav UK arcade games forum... But I'll just say that you may be interested in it, if your interested in older arcade machines...

Our kids have Wii, XBox etc.. and yet.. I still find myself preferring the old school games. We don't have many but we do have is :

Centipede
Defender
Baby PacMan

25 years later... I still suck at Defender

Evil Chris 03-06-2012 02:31 PM

About 10 years ago I knew a guy who would refurbish one for about $300 depending on the game.
Now that it's popular to have these ugly retro machines, that price has more than tripled in many cases.

Yeah they're cool in your basement for about a month. Then they're just taking up space.

I suggest you download mame32 and some ROMS and get the 80s arcade out of your system.

Klen 03-06-2012 02:35 PM

I had pacman arcade, would love to have golden axe arcade.

Same here. Mine cost £850. It's also got full SNES, NES, Master System and Megadrive emulators built in. It's awesome. No idea how we're ever going to get it out of here when we move, though, it weighs a genuine ton.

If i had the space, i'd love to get the house of the dead standup and the star wars cockpit machines.

The Ghost 03-07-2012 08:37 AM

Wanted one since seeing the game room on "Silver Spoons". Never got around to it. Have seen them for as cheap as $100.
