Depends what you want from it I guess.

I use imdb a lot to look things up, never once needed to upgrade to pro to get the info I required.

Pro is helpful if you are doing business or want to do business with the people you are checking up on.

IMDB Pro ise useful if you are in the mainstream movie business (actor, producer, technical, etc). If you're not it has no use.
