tip for sponsors: default to best converting tour!

seeing this time after time... sponsor develops a great new tour and shoves it into nats as tour4 or tour5 and leaves the default link going to some crappy old tour... so much money left on the table because of badly converting sites :(

Hard to please everyone, if they did that there would be people complaining about them changing which tours they're linking to.

Instead of changing the default they should have a separate link that goes to the best converting tour.

A solution would be to allow the affiliate to link to individual tours or a "best converting tour" link.

we both know that what converts for one may not convert the same for another, choice is always the better option.

Maybe "newest tour" could work as a link option.

fuck that i am linking from a blog post (with a photo or gallery) directly to join page these days and it converts.

Always true, but there is also always a "best converting", which is why you would give affiliates the option of linking to a specific tour or the "best converting" tour, which is what I said.

That's the best option. I would generally use the best converting tour link if it was available.

thats funny. you would think it would be common sense. But sometimes the most obvious gets lost

sojproductions 03-07-2012 03:07 AM

best tour is a good idea - we have built tours before that we thought were great, replaced the old shitty one and they tanked so we reverted - having a most succesful is the best option

PR_Glen 03-07-2012 09:13 AM

again... one tour will convert better for some webmasters, another may convert better for a different group. Overall conversions are moot unless you break them down into traffic types. If marketing were as easy as copying everyone else's sales strategy then we wouldn't ever have to discuss such matters.

I should add that webmasters should feel free to hit me up discussing which tours may work best for your specific traffic and sales strategy, I go over these numbers constantly and can definitely help.

What we do is send the 1 click a day we get from Rabbit Reviews to tour 1 first, then day two we send the click to the 2nd tour, after trying all five tours we start again.

after a few hundred years we analyze the results...

We got TGP/MGP-scripts that rotate and rank thumbs after popularity.

Why isn't sponsors doing the same thing? Rotate tours and then pick the tour that converts the best? (for each separate affiliate and campaign of course)

how would you get solid data either way if you rotated tours constantly at first? If anything it would skew your results.

A large part of market research is testing what works, a hands on approach beats automation every time with such a call.

in fact it can be easily automated, not a complicated algorithm. If you want some ideas, take a look at http://www.fdsign.com/evolution/tuto...ne-gun-models/ and pay special attention to the section "Marketing Effectiveness Research " where this kind of process is explained. Of course you'd need to adjust to your needs, but I think it may help as a starting point (assuming you want to do something like this=
