Remove the meta links from your blog. Yes or no

Any reason why i should keep it there or not keep it there?

Thanks.

Go for it... tell us how it turns out.

Sid70 03-09-2012 08:17 AM

meta tags are no use, they add no extra info to google that only needs a title and content to check out.

Go for what exactly?

Dirty F 03-09-2012 08:41 AM

I'm considering removing recent posts and archives as well.
It will only result in Google thinking it might be duplicate pages.

Good yes?

you can remove meta links they are useless/.

and regarding dup content, get a good robots.txt

also search for duplicate categories issue

porno jew 03-09-2012 10:57 AM

Who the hell knows.
I have blogs are that are a goddamn SEO mess but they do very will with Google.
Other blogs that are supposedly very SEO solid, formatted "correctly" and Google hates them.

baddog 03-09-2012 12:25 PM

Why the hell would you do that? Anyone that says they are useless is clueless

You mean from the sidebar?

If there is a sufficient amount of text on the index page and it's just the headlines, you'll be fine.

Yes, and tags and breadcrumbs and a "related posts" plugin.

pornmasta 03-09-2012 01:09 PM

keep the title tag (is also a meta tag)

DK 03-09-2012 01:18 PM

There is a plugin that generates the proper robots.txt

Why not answer my question first? Why would you?

Grumpy old man.
Because i tend to put as little as possible on my site for the surfer to click on. Besides content and sponsors etc. You couldn't think of that yourself?

Yeah, I usually don't use those either. I use categories strictly for keyword purposes and create highly intricate, super pages which I generally link to on the sidebar. Then use this plugin to direct more traffic to the super pages.

For same reason we took them down. Makes no sense to have recent posts and recent comments on an adult blog. You should rather have proper category setup and tag cloud.

CyberHustler 03-10-2012 08:29 AM

Meta links, I remove them. More of an OCD thing than any other benefit with me though. Doubt the google gods would be confused into thinking dupe pages exist by them.

Colmike9 03-10-2012 08:45 AM

Not all SEs are spiders..

Here's a couple random thoughts. Depending on the amount of posts you already have per page, you might be able to lower the number, which would increase the amount of pages on the blog which will increase the PR possibility. But don't go overboard and cut down to one post per page..
Also, for posts that you want to delete because of duplicate content, depending on how long it would take, rewriting the posts in your own words instead of using a rewriter or search/replace will make a difference because of non dup content and SEs like updated posts for SEO as much, maybe more in some cases, than a new post. :2 cents:
