Honestly, either Eddie Murphy's movies have been really bad, or they need to fire the marketing department that does the commercials. They have the same fucking voiceover guy that does all of them and the commercials are always almost completely unfunny. The guy may as well say "Coming this weekend, another shitty Eddie Murphy movie. You know the drill, go see something else. Rated PG-13."
|
If you pay attention, most of Hollywood use the same two voice guys on trailers.

Anyways, it seems A Thousand Words was actually SHOT in 2008, so one of those movies that sucked so bad it got shelved. 0 good reviews on RottenTomatoes, lol. Edit: To put it another way, if you've ever seen the South Park episode where they keep having the Rob Schneider movie commercials, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Edit: Found it: |
OH shit...lol you're right 0%

The Eddie Murphy movie just looked terrible. . . as has most of his movies in recent years. I never read the John Carter books so I had no frame of reference, but the commercials made it hard to get into. It just looked like a guy who jumped in the air and kicked ass. I have read reviews that say it is decent, but I think they did a pretty shitty job of marketing it.

I don't know how Eddie Murphy keeps getting work. Has he even had a successful movie in the last 10 years?
I don't know the storyline for John Carter, the commercials did look fun but they did not tell me enough to want to see it. |

A $300 million dollar movie, beat by a movie starring Danny DeVito.
|
John Carter is the type of movie that should do well in foreign markets

this year there seems to have been lots and lots of films i have wanted to see. to be honest for 10 years if not longer there has been nothing i have wanted to see. they do say in a resseshion films become good. as for eddy murphy i liked him in that haunted house family film. also the first nutty profeser. also the one were he talks to the animals. i loved that cartoon/animation thing he did a lot of the voices for. it took me a bit to get into it, but once i got it, i loved it. |
they can go cry in their money. :) eddie is 25 million per film period

He needs to stick to comedy dramas with action like 48 hours or whatever that movie was...
|
At least Eddy Murphy didn't get Mallicked
|
Ah .. gone are the days of the funny Eddie Murphy, Beverly Hills Cop, Trading Places, 48 Hours, and even The Golden Child, as soon as he started on the Kids Movies.. it was all down hill from there.
|
I liked him as the donkey voice in Shrek :)

As to John Carter, I think the main thing that has hurt their box-office sells is not revealing too much to those not already familiar with the character. I loved the books, and have been looking forward to seeing the movie after the first teaser trailer came out. |

unfortunately still hasn't happened yet. |
