Anyone Still Watch TV?

I know since I got a computer with high speed internet in the early 2000s I've haven't had a tv since. Anyone watch tv on a regular basis?

Sophie Delancey 03-12-2012 07:53 AM

I watch TV online, but not on an actual TV.

Nicky 03-12-2012 07:54 AM

Sports, thats about It. All series etc I feed from the computer.

Tom_PM 03-12-2012 07:54 AM

I cancelled my hd cable a couple of weeks ago. Kept my cable internet.

ClickCastX 03-12-2012 07:56 AM

I guess I'm a minority here. I prefer a really big tv to watch. Even though I watch video over the Net, nothing beats watching Breaking Bad on a tv set.

EddyTheDog 03-12-2012 07:59 AM

I watch TV to get myself away from the PC..

Tom_PM 03-12-2012 08:01 AM

I watch most stuff through an s-video hookup to the big tv. It works well enough if you play from the video cache with media player classic and the source was HD.

dave90210 03-12-2012 08:08 AM

I think cable tv should offer web subscription service. There's allot of shows that I don't see because they don't stream online. I'm surprised they don't offer a live streaming service for all cable channels online yet.

I think there's untapped billions to be made out there with online cable tv.

There's a similar service with direct tv but you already have to have a cable tv subscription with a cable box

Jim_Gunn 03-12-2012 08:16 AM

I have the DirecTV HD package with the included DVR and I like the convenience of programming my favorite series and recording newer movies from the movie channels as well as watching the HD picture quality on my large screen HDTV. I only watch tv shows or movies on my computer or my media server hooked up to my tv as a last resort because the convenience and resolution are just not the same.

Horny Dude 03-12-2012 08:17 AM

I'm not a big tv watcher. Mostly just sporting events or the news, but everything else I catch online.

Phillipmcd1 03-12-2012 08:19 AM

The last time I watched TV was during the Bin Laden death. Then I noticed political sites had the latest information and TV was repeating the same thing for 2 hours

theS2O 03-12-2012 08:21 AM

I still watch TV most of the time.

Paul Markham 03-12-2012 08:21 AM

Until they have big wide screen and surround sound. I will stay watching the TV.

Just watch it to get away from the computer and get a real life.

I very rarely watch TV. Probably less than 30 minutes a month, not including MMA; however, I do watch a few TV shows online.

Rochard 03-12-2012 08:44 AM

I still watch TV. Sorry, but there's a huge difference between watching on a 24 inch computer screen and a 60 inch flat screen TV.

However, most of what I watch is recorded on the DVR. There's a handful of shows I'll watch when it's on, such as Sons Of Anarchy or Justified.

dallasnovelty 03-12-2012 08:47 AM

I watch TV in my theater room every night, big difference seeing it in 120 inches of HD 3D clarity than a monitor. I have Verizon FiOS HD and we don't watch live TV very often at all anymore. If I see a funny commercial while fast forwarding ill stop and rewind but most of the time we finish shows in about 43 minutes. I download some shows if we can't get them on the DVR/OnDemand or I have too many shows recording. I dont see us watching TV on a computer until I build one for the theater room.

Most computers now have HDMI out. No reason you can't hook them directly into a 7.1 receiver and a screen as big as you can afford. Just buy a htpc case and most people wouldn't know it was a computer. I have a computer at every TV in my house and stream videos from 1 main server I have hidden in a closet.

SykkBoy 03-12-2012 09:38 AM

Yup, still watch TV to get away from the computer and spend some time with family bonding over a couple TV shows.

J. Falcon 03-12-2012 09:53 AM

I also like to get away form the computer and lay out on the couch and watch TV, even if it's only zapping.

Chosen 03-12-2012 10:08 AM

I don't :pimp

MichaelP 03-12-2012 10:09 AM

Netflix.COM baby :thumbsup

Spunky 03-12-2012 10:11 AM

I watch sports and some movies as well as a couple comedies

Danny B 03-12-2012 10:13 AM

I still do every other day with the kiddo, and sometimes a good flick with the gf with a big bowl of popcorn.

BlackCrayon 03-12-2012 10:26 AM

one thing the computer hasn't yet replaced is the ability to flip around numerous channels.

Lykos 03-12-2012 10:32 AM

Not really, except for football matches:)

CDSmith 03-12-2012 10:41 AM

Hmm, do I watch it on a 50 inch widescreen or a 19 inch monitor.

hmmm

decisions decisions.

Yup, pretty much sports, if not an actual game then sportscenter

Tom_PM 03-12-2012 11:09 AM

Hindsight is 20/20. Should have asked who pays for television programming instead of who "watches tv". I think most of us who dont pay for the programming still use our large tv's to watch and maybe our computers to record or store programs. You know it's nice to just use the old indoor antenna and get 15 channels for free :) Over the air HD is actually cleaner as it's not compressed for transmission through cables.

You can download breaking bad and watch it on that same TV.

Evil Chris 03-12-2012 01:32 PM

I need to cut back on the amount of TV I watch. Mind you, once the Stanley Cup playoffs are done, my TV watching drops almost off the chart.

bash 03-12-2012 01:43 PM

I love kicking back watching TV on my 52 inch and flipping through all the digital cable channels. I couldn't imagine sitting in my desk chair watching a 2 hours movie on the PC, awful.

QFT - I need a little TV now and then to relax

stephane76 03-12-2012 01:46 PM

Nothing beats a HD flat screen and a comfy couch!

globofun 03-12-2012 01:50 PM

The last time I watched TV was in........2001... something like that......I guess after 9-11.....

Scott McD 03-12-2012 01:52 PM

I still watch loads of sports on tv. Looking forward to the new F1 season this weekend! :thumbsup

MaDalton 03-12-2012 01:59 PM

the TV is the first thing i switch on in the morning and when i go to bed i put it on timer to switch off after i fell asleep. but i rarely "watch", it's more that i just listen and to have some background noise

Hmm, do I watch it naked in a warm bed with a laptop on my chest & porn tubes open in the background for immediate access to quick wank breaks, or sat upright and fully clothed on a shitty sofa with the heater going full blast.

hmmm

decisions decisions.
