yes i saw the movie, it is excellent.. though i think he is portrayed slightly more "innocent and clean cut" than the real Bob.
He sure got laid..

That stuff is awesome. Although I would agree he was a true amateur porn genius - the fact that he didn't sell his work in his lifetime means he was more like a hobbyist. For that reason I would suggest that Ugly George was the first amateur porn producer. :2 cents:

obviously that is the case just as there were girlie magz by the time Bob Crane got into shooting his personal videos. in the movie it sort of denotes that Bob got addicted to pornography through early magazines.

i am guessing Bob could have made a lot of money had he decided to sell or publish any or his work.

as for auto focus....just another turd from paul schrader who gave us Hardcore....autofocus was just about as based in reality as hardcore. Schrader has a deep hatred of recreational sex that is abundantly clear in his movies.

He was a TV star, so why would he bother with trying to sell the work?

I thought the Willem DaFoe character in Auto Focus was perfectly perverted and well-acted. A somewhat uneven and uncomfortable film, but I still enjoyed it.

it doesnt sound like ugly george qualifies as a pornographer, having girls expose their tits is hardly considered pornography. just sayin'
i do remember the show form my time visiting NY back in the early 80's, the stuff was dirty in a new york drug addict hooker type of way.
