I just saw something very cool.
 

My next door nieghbour works for HP and bought home a prototype 3D printer.

He called my at about 3am to show me - He is like a kid with a new toy.

We printed out a scan of his house key.

It didnt work in the lock and for some reason had a horrid smell - but it was pretty impressive.

Give it a few years and it will be useful.

Good god no - I am just one of the few people he knows that will be up at this time of day and would be impressed by something that geeky.

You know they already have those. They are for designers and engineers and such, not really for consumers. There is not really a very practical use for consumers as printing complex items is near impossible or very expensive.
