digitaldivas 03-12-2012 11:00 PM

JuicyBunny 03-12-2012 11:29 PM

Brave on, sir...

We have a new Balinese site in HD. Its scary to see what you would think are 90 meg files turn into 500meg or above...it'll be ok.

Best Wishes to you!!!

Some of our larger scenes are 2-3GB each. Members area BW pales in comparison to any free hosted vids

digitaldivas 03-13-2012 12:08 AM

...if i may ask, what format are your movies in, people?

xenigo 03-13-2012 12:14 AM

MP4 baaabyyyy! Most efficient format out there. But even the i3 processor seems to handle it well with standard Intel graphics. I haven't had a single complaint about bad playback, but I was definitely bracing myself for the onslaught!

digitaldivas 03-13-2012 12:19 AM

cool, read up on it and that is what i'm doing. :thumbsup

xenigo 03-13-2012 12:22 AM

What are you encoding with, and what bitrate?

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 03-13-2012 12:30 AM

What data rate are you using for your 1080p videos?

ADG

MP4 is a container format, so saying that you're making "mp4" videos doesn't mean very much at all. There's a lot of different kinds of mp4's. It's what's inside that container that matters.

See: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=62723

I'd look into x264 for encoding H.264 into MP4 files, which should help your file sizes and allow for easy streaming and/or downloading for playback on any modern PC.

PS: If you want to use ffmpeg to encode your videos, you'll need to build ffmpeg with the x264 and AVC libraries, plus a bunch of others like qt-faststart etc. If you're using unix, search for something like "ffmpeg x264 insertOShere tutorial"

These are paysite owners, like they have any clue the difference between a container or a codec.

Good luck ... if you put any load on those big files make sure you have a good Hard drive system backing them up

Denny 03-13-2012 03:05 AM

Good luck

wait... you host with Godaddy? :error

Encoding with Final Cut, 20mb/sec.

actually, my degree is in this field :)

digitaldivas 03-13-2012 10:09 AM

Actually i was thinking about making the data rate 15mb/sec, but 1080p spec is 30mb/sec, what to do...

High Definition on todays Internet is a lie. The bit rate for real HD is too high.

Also Resolution and bit-rate are only two factors in many other factors that effect quality which are largely ignored as they cost money and need skilled personnel.

true that, the real spec is over 1 Gbps. I have seen some that go so low that the video itself is just starting to show artifacts...
