Why Pinterest might not be a great site to promote your work.

I was thinking of showing off some of my more mainstream work via Pinterest. I was thinking, "Great! Another new (and increasingly popular) social networking site that can help me promote stuff". But then when I encountered this article in Google, I had to pause from doing anything else in the site and eventually I abandoned my account.
Also while reading Pinterest's Etiquette Page, I somehow realize going here defeats the main purpose of posting pictures to share. You post at the risk of being sued by some moron who contests the ownership of the photos you yourself took. But then, Pinterest can do whatever it wants with your photo.
One look at Google and there are growing people - especially photographers against Pinterest. This one is also enlightening.

But as a photographer would I post any of my images on their site? No I don?t think so? especially when I read this post on Direct Match Media. As soon as you upload your images to Pinterest? you are handing over to them the rights for them to do what they want with your images? including the sale of them. It?s all in the Terms of Use of their site.
