UK is No 1 Web economy

The United Kingdom is the most Web-connected economy across the G20.

The Internet contributes 8.3 per cent to the UK GDP, according to a new study by global management consulting firm Boston Consulting Group.

The contribution to the Web was judged to be £121 billion (S$242 billion) and could rise to £2.3 trillion by 2016.

You need to get it into context.

in the uk shopping at real shops is expensive.

its expensive on fuel, speed cameras too.

then it costs you a fortune to park.

then its expensive at the shops.

thus online is often a lot cheaper.

the only thing i buy is real shops is food. everything else is online, simply as its quicker and cheaper.

if your not from the uk, i do not think you can understand how unplesent going shopping is these days.

plus many shops are shutting as the cost to run a shop is huge (insurance, business rates, heating, electricity, rent). Plus most high streets no one can park so no one can even get to your shop.

i think it's because since most people from the uk sit around on the internet all day calling each other cunts they may as well do some shopping online anyway.

If spam contributed to GDP DVTimes would be our biggest export.

If you have traffic from the UK you're looking to monetize, get in touch. (partnership, high PPS, PPL, media buys, etc.) :thumbsup

I read today all that is about to change with the laws on VAT on import goods from those little tax-free havens that amazon et al import from sitting on the south coast. Wait to see how that affects the UK internet economy when VAT gets piled on to most of goods bought online (from the big players)...
