One guy is making $2k a day by creating thousands of accounts and pinning stuff with amazon links and then repinning with his bot accounts.

of course now that a big tech blog did the story I don't expect his payday to last much longer.

saw that site months ago. it kept my interest for a solid 14 seconds, just saw it again, only managed 4 seconds.

moeloubani 03-28-2012 10:40 PM

thats not why things pick up steam quicker these days, people have been valuing these companies saying things like for example with the draw something game how it went to a million users in 9 days and it took facebook 6 months

the thing is facebook is the reason these companies are growing so quick, it has never been easier to go viral than it is now using social media

ever

She's probably one of those moms making $2000 a day loafing around the house in pajamas clicking a few buttons every few hours to keep the cheddar coming. At least, that's what the ebook sales page says :winkwink::1orglaugh

On my phone and my computer is already packed away for the trip, but based on what I read most often, search TechCrunch or Mashable. Most likely read it there and I think it was within the last 36 hours.

calvinawe 03-29-2012 12:27 AM

it can work as a nice, filtered, minimalist addition to facebook.

already up shit creek when they try to monetize it with ads... content isnt theirs. Dude from Getty Images was already hinting at licensing fees. Interested to see how Pinterest works it.

Depends on how you imagine they will incorporate ads, but in the traditional sense of banners and text links, they don't need to.

Right now, it's one huge wish-list/shopping list for women. When something is pinned, their system will try to automatically replace/add affiliate codes.

It's a huge traffic generator for sites like pottery barn, toys-r-us, etc. They would probably try to approach these companies and say, "hey, we're sending you a lot of traffic and business, give us a cut". If the companies make a fuss about how they don't have an affiliate system, Pinterest can say, "ok, fuck you, we will redirect all links to amazon product pages with same/similar items"

Smart stuff. As pervs, we tend to forget about the female market. Look at mobile gaming, it's all women. Sure, Infinity blade sells well, but the top grossing apps/games are loved by women.

They were doing that in the beginning with a script called Skimlinks but got some bad press for it and quit doing it. Here is the link to the article of the spammer that is making $1K a day on Pinterest...
