Got Huawei network hardware ?

There is a little storm brewing at the moment between the Chinese and Australian Governments after Australia banned Huawei from participating in the rollout of our NBN.

Apparently in the UK, several problems relating to security, became apparent and linked Huawei hardware to Chinese sponsored cyber attacks and security infiltrations.

(In Australia the DSD and ASIO don't muck around so there must be some pretty serious issues with Huawei hardware, we're obviously as the public not being told the full extent of the problem)

huawei is made by a branch of china telecom, the same group who makes and controls the great firewall of china.

Though the same can be said about counterfit cisco gear/blades that come from china function/work just like the normal thing but they have some secret sauce embeded in them as well.

Until cisco and others stop buying OEM optics/parts/compondents from china this will never end, and sadly it will never get moved from china/HK region.

I hope this was not a reply towards me because in both these articles nothing is mentioned about Huawei being a branch of China Telecom , or about China Telecom being the company that "makes and creates" the Great Firewall of China

I know why nothing is mentioned about this, because it is not true.. Huawei is not a branch of China Telecom, and China Telecom did not create the great firewall of china

Well kinda, but your point is valid. It has been long said but never actually proven.
China Telecom is state owned so I don't think it is far fetched that they control the great firewall.

Its pretty common knowledge throughout the network community.

Three words -
Open source firmware.

If you're handling security sensitive data, you should know you can see the code that's running on your firewalls and other network equipment. If I were responsible for government data I wouldn't trust Chinese code.

Right, and the sky isn't blue either.

well most hardware manufactures have extra components in their devices depending on who uses them. So not far fetched that some would have some devices that countries wouldnt really want to be using for sensitive data.
