How Sad - Microsoft has to basically BRIBE people to fill out its app library

Good times ahead for Windows 8? Maybe not.... It's all about the number of supporting apps, dude. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/06/te...checkbook.html

I think Microsoft is fighting an uphill battle in the phone market. When I think computers I think Windows. If you ask me about world processing or spreadsheets I think MS Office. When I think phones I think Apple or Android I don't even consider MS as being an option.

I'm sure I'm not alone on this.

I guess if they took this technology and put into the tablet platform it could be something good for them down the road.

MS is looking at things 3 to 10 years down the road. Apparently, they don't like what they see so they are trying...and failing. I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to come out with a win though... It took a while for Windows 3.1 to bust out, Windows 8 is just the first iteration of a long struggle for the OS platforms of the future.

Looks like the Nokia partnership finally produced a real solid product that will either make or break MS' foray into smartphones...

You have a good point. One thing to think about (and I am no console video game expert) didn't the xbox do things that every other console on the market couldn't? I remember when it came out people talked about how amazing it was compared to everything else.

If they want to compete in the phone world they have to be able to create that same buzz and they are up against some very stiff competition. They could do it, but it would have to be something amazing that pulled them into the market.

I don't think it's sad that they have to do that, I think it's just the way it is. They spent a lot of money buying up games studios to get the Xbox where it is, they'll do the same with phones. I wouldn't bet against them taking a big share - a lot of people are getting annoyed with Android.

the number? I'd say it's about the quality of the apps and having the popular ones

The problem is that now that all these app makers know Microsoft is willing to shell out cash to get apps, they won't do them in the hopes of having Microsoft foot the bill completely and get some gravy.

That is because they acting retarded when it comes to mobile market, they support only 38 countries for mobile market so if you dont belong to one of those countries you cant buy nor sell apps. While android and apple support all countries.
