Biz - Using WP for selling a mainstream product?

OK, so a guy hit me up today, and asked my advice about this...

He wants to import a fitness / exercise product from China, and then use WP to create a site for selling it... I was asked if there was anything advantageous that could be done, (Plugins etc) that he could use with a legit product that is 100% non porn related...

My immediate answer was that he could take paypal, and as such, there were a few plugins available to him to deal with the orders... But thats as far as my knowledge goes...

So are there any there any other plugins, that he could make use of, on a non porn WP site, that he wouldn't be able to use on a porno WP site?

Thanks in advance for any (useful) replies...

He can use shopping cart script instead of WP. There are few free ones that can do the job so as better/paid ones...

I think he wants to use WP because of the SEO plugins that are available to all... :2 cents:

Yes, it's possible.
Wordpress + shopping cart plugin and theme + Paypal.

Magento is a shopping cart I use at my mainstream job. The community version is a full version and free. It works well for me and can be integrated into wordpress via a free plugin.

When you add a product, there is a meta tab where you can put individual info for each one:

You can use PayPal, authorize.net, etc and there are plugins for some Euro based processors as well.

Anyway, the wordpress only method may be easier but I am not sure how advanced they were and just figured I would chime in about Magento as another possible option for ya.

Best of luck with it.

Magento has too many options and customizations in my opinion.. Great for some projects, but if you're not looking for a super big shop, wordpress is fine :)
