They say u get what you pay for. Can things go wrong with WP theme customization?

Im having an indian guy cloning a 3 page site with simple layout into a wordpress theme.

I understand that hiring a cheap indian guy program you a facebook clone will cause problems in the long run

But hiring an indian guy to do some simple css via wordpress work won't really cause problems.

Your take?

Thanks

My indian has been working for me for almost 4 years straight. I wouldn't give him up for the world.

It's always a roll of the dice when you outsource. Sometimes you get great guys but most of the time they are turds. We have a Filipino working with us who is a God send, but before him we went through a lot of hacks.

A little CSS - no problem. Anything more complex, involving application logic, cheap or even moderate can cost you big time in the run. When application logic that belongs in plugins is incorrectly put in templates that creates technical debt nectar you'll later have to fix it, possibly re-doing it fun scratch when Wordpress is upgraded, etc.

wp code in themes is fine, no need to create a plugin if you dont really need it.

and it will still work after upgrades, nothing should prevent that or you are coding it wrong.
