good cloud storage is not cheap

Adraco 04-23-2012 02:28 AM

I use Amazon S3, http://aws.amazon.com/s3/

You get virtually unlimited space, but I can't directly call it cheap, on the other hand very reliable.

Else, go buy yourself a NAS, attach it to your home/office network and dump files there.

Nembrionic 04-23-2012 03:05 AM

What exactly is the reason you want to put in on a cloud?

Three.Thousand 04-23-2012 04:10 AM

hope u are not on dialup, 4TB+ might take a while.

johnny o 04-23-2012 10:38 AM

because i'm sick of buying hard drives and having them stored off site.

Choopa_Pardo 04-23-2012 10:53 AM

I could help you out in this department. I'll shoot you a line.

http://AdultCentro.com we have a cloud solution + you can use our platform to sell your content through us (if you will ever decide to) or use our site builder to build your own site/s....

Why 04-23-2012 01:46 PM

just signup for livedrive.com, carbonite.com, idrive.com, box.net or one of the many others out there. most of them can accommodate 4TB for under $20 bucks a month.

some even allow you to share your content and view/manage it from a tablet or mobile phone.

they all have 50GB/100GB limits and those accounts are $50/month, go see for yourself

epitome 04-23-2012 02:35 PM

Contact idrive. They have 1 TB plans for business for $79/mo so sure they can accommodate 4 TB.

What you want to do won't be cheap no matter how you do it.

Mrwww 04-23-2012 02:45 PM

box.com
dropbox.com

both decent, used them both.

sandman! 04-23-2012 03:06 PM

whats your budget ?

if you just need ftp access you could get a dedicated server with 2 3tb drives.

would be cheapest way to do it.

Socks 04-23-2012 03:18 PM

It really depends on what you need to do with it once it's in "the cloud".

http://www.edgecast.com/ <--- cheaper than Amazon S3
http://www.backblaze.com/online-backup-performance.html <--- Truly unlimited for $5 a month, but you have to keep a local copy as well, because it maintains a backup of your entire PC (no network shares...) minus the OS. But if you have 12 HDD's attached to your PC, it will back them all up. The thing with backblaze is that it's a backup for you to access, not everyone else, so it won't "serve" your files to the public.

Amazon has to be your best bet.

johnny o 04-23-2012 05:43 PM

i don't need much of any access to it once it's there. it's more like cold storage in case a meteor hits my house with all my copies i have here on site.

Backblaze sounds perfect for you for only $5 a month then, and it keeps you up to date rather than you having to manually make backups.

How long would restoring that 4TB via the internet take?

You can buy 4Tb external drives now, put everything on a couple of those, store one offsite and regularly rotate. Done.

Choopa_Pardo 04-25-2012 08:07 AM

OP, did you reach a conclusion?

LAJ 04-25-2012 10:39 AM

I can help you. Will drop you an email shortly.

raymor 04-25-2012 11:17 AM

We can set you up through the Clonebox system at a MUCH better rate than Amazon.

johnny o 04-30-2012 10:38 AM

hit me up raymor :)

ha ha ha HOT

johnny o 05-02-2012 12:47 PM

just got off the phone with carbonite, they do offer unlimited but after 200 GB they "throttle" the upload.

i signed up for the free trial last week, he told me that my first folder (circa 500GB) could easily take "months" to upload. lol. at least he was honest. looks like cloud storage has got a long way to go for anything that's cost effective.
