is there a reason I should'nt use goDaddy for my porn domains?
????????????
|
Serious question: Why WOULD you use Godaddy given their history?
|
Very easy.
Search this board. Search google. |
Just take our word for it.
Use NameCheap...... |
used them 10+ years never a issue

go daddys alrite thats about it
|
Unless you get in on a good sale, there's no reason to use them.
|
The domain you buy is the same regardless of who you buy it from. Why would you spend extra? I use namecheap and I use a coupon every time I buy to save another 80 cents or whatever... I used Godaddy for a long time but they lost their competitiveness and frankly the buying experience there is crap, I don't want to "activate" my domain or buy hosting or credit card processing or other things they make you decline when you buy.

porn is fine. certain blackhat seo is what gets people in trouble.
|
???????????????????????????
|
what reason is there to use godaddy besides the occasional $1 domains?
|
There is absolutely no reason to not use GoDaddy for any domain, adult or otherwise. They are #1 for a reason.

If you are going to spam, or do something to warrant complaints. dont use them. If not. then you shouldnt have an issue.

Additionally, what's wrong with working from home? A lot of people here (myself including), work from home. Granted, background noise should be kept to a minimum, but I doubt the guys would keep their job if there was constant noise and distractions in the background. |
buy from godaddy and transfer to namecheap after 60days
or if namecheap has a coupon code just buy from namecheap |
never had any problems with godaddy in 10+ years
|
I have yet to hear of ONE "GoDaddy issue" that was not a direct result of the complainers fuck up.
|
GoDaddy sucks big time. This reason isn't enough for you?
|
+1 for the 10+ years at godaddy

GoDaddy rocks!

Please use GoDaddy. When you fuck up and they confiscate your domains, I can pick them up cheap when they auction them off.

Long story short - Based upon nothing more than bogus 'Headed notepaper' they allowed a competitor into my godaddy account. This person ran ragged across all my domains, transferring ones they liked into another account - Deleting domains that belonged to solo girls sites (Which were active and earning money) and changing DNS willy nilly on others to point to diff places etc. Then, after all the fun, the account name and password were changed on me - all 100% behind my back! It was all eventually resolved and put back in place, but only after a couple of days of LONG phone calls, and a lot of stress from other people asking me why their sites were down etc. I immeaditly packed my bags and moved to namecheap... But the point was that godaddy let this person into my account, based on nothing more than a fake header on a piece o paper, knocked up in photoshop. Next time we bump into each other at a show, I'll happily share the full details in person, (If you like) but I am not happy going into the specifics on GFY... |

I have all my clients on Godaddy for over 2 years and no issues. I myself just moved over to hostgator and like it alot better. The live support is awesome, just a click away.:2 cents:

Godaddy is pretty bad, but newbies seem to like them.

Playing devil's advocate here...
So, through this thread, there's people saying GoDaddy is fine, and as long as you aren't doing anything shady, there's no reason not to use them. We also have the typical "GoDaddy Sucks" responses. BUT, aside from one event detailed by CurrentlySober, no one else has said or shown anything to back up their stance to not use GoDaddy. Sure, some people have said "search the board." I will admit that I didn't search, but in the 4+ years that I've been on here, I see mostly just "GoDaddy Sucks," and "only newbs use GoDaddy." Hardly everyone ever backs up their opinion with legitimate reasons. If you're going to ridicule someone for using a company for hosting, give legitimate reasons. Otherwise simply state that it's your opinion that you just don't like them. Just because it's not right for you doesn't mean it's not right for others. Otherwise, post some info to back up your "GoDaddy Sucks" claims. It's funny, because when someone asks about other hosts, people share their stories. I've seen both good and bad for HostGator, and details backing up both sides. But I never see that with GoDaddy. It's like it's "status quo" to not use GoDaddy around here. No real reasons (aside from CurrentlySober), it's just "not cool." It's kind of retarded. If a bunch of you GoDaddy haters actually provide some real reason, that I'll change my view that it's just not the "cool" thing to do. Until then, I'll continue to think that the stigma of GoDaddy on here is just because it's not what the "cool guys" or "ballers" use. BTW, when I shoot stills, I've been using a SONY camera for years. OMFG, it's not a Canon or Nikon! Blacklist me! :disgust |
I am there for many years now.. Domains (about 100), Hosting (My needs are pretty small), etc....
Never looked back. As for the extras they offer, you can check a 'Never ask again' box, so at your next purchase, you get to checkout instantly. Service is fantastic and price is pretty cheap. The Q:P Ratio is great :thumbsup |

Life's to short to worry - So I moved, and they lost my biz... Big Deal ? NO... Despite owning over 100 domains, they wont miss my biz... And I wont go around preaching that they shouldn't be used... I just found it very frightening though, that an online company, with loads of online security measures, would accept an 'old school' 'Hand Written Letter' that basically said... Quote:
Their online security, is pretty good - But the offline security? It Simply doesn't exist! YMMV... . |
