Webair

Has anyone else been having problems with webair support lately?

I've been hosting with them since 2007 with no real complaints, but I have had nothing but problems lately.

2intense 04-27-2012 09:02 AM

welcome to webair

Babaganoosh 04-27-2012 09:03 AM

Haha, do some searching on GFY. There is constant trouble with Weberror.

Ya, I can see that... I wish I would have kept up with GFY before it cost me 5-figures.

Emil 04-27-2012 09:23 AM

Only with domains-support, not the live-support.

looky_lou 04-27-2012 12:28 PM

Had them add a few features this week. Completed within 10-20 minutes.

Had a couple changes need on those features. Completes within 10 minutes.

Not bad I would say.

No complaints here, been with Mike for over 12 years now and I always seem to get what I need done pretty quickly!

Just setup a virtual with them and can't access ftp as I get an internal server error in the admin, can't add websites because i need to 'add a user'.

Shot out a support ticket, however I guess it will take a whileto answer judging by the threads I am finding now :(

Kelli58 05-02-2012 05:43 PM

Been with them for years. Nothing but amazingly fast support. Couldn't be happier.

This post troubles me. I hope all parties here get it resolved. :thumbsup

Have you tried Live Chat support?

http://www.webair.com/live-chat.html

Can usually get things done in a matter of minutes.

I agree, live support is beyond swift! I actually used this feature earlier today.
We've been with them for many, many years and are extremely happy.

It also helps if you pick up a phone and call them. They are around on ICQ and other instant messages.

Markul 05-03-2012 02:03 AM

Webair again...

Just go with Amerinoc :thumbsup

we tried going with webair, it took 6 months to not even be live with their 'managed' service, they took 2 months pay for the privilege as well...... another webair success story

I've definitely picked up the phone and called them many times, but they seem to have a problem with not calling me back like they said they would and ending their shift without handing things off to another technician... leaving one of my servers crippled for another 45min while the next tech figures out what is going on when I call back.

This is only one of many examples of their horrible support.

CT 05-11-2012 09:53 AM

WEBAIR - give me root access to my servers!

It has now been almost 40hrs since I requested root access to all of my servers.

I have called and even sent a text to Mike... yet they just keep dropping the ball.

Radical Bucks 05-11-2012 10:39 AM

Webair is a great hosting company. I would refer them to anyone who needs great hosting and customer support.

AaronM 05-11-2012 10:45 AM

I would post and tell you all once again that Webair sucks but considering how many threads on GFY already state this, you would have to be ignorant to all their issues, getting bribed by free hosting, or a complete fool to use their services.

Use the GFY search feature and check out ANY hosting company you are considering doing business with. You will find more complaints about Webair than any other host out there. :2 cents:

I second this! LOVE WEBAIR! I never have an issue with calling them or with their live chat.

Same people slamming them again and again, seems they have a ulterior motive. or maybe it's coincidence Aaron posts in every webair thread, very unprofessional if you ask me. :2 cents:

I am not a fan of webair by any stretch of the imagination.

However, that above is simply not true. By volume you can find companies like Burst, DreamHost, among many others with a lot more complaints by volume than webair. I am not saying webair is a dandy. Simply saying there are many much worse.

I do? Not hardly although I've been posting in more of them over the last year since Mike came out as a complete douche bag.

I will "slam" them again, and again, and again. Why? Because not only did they lose my entire members area but the owner of the company can't differentiate between good business and the twitching that goes on in his pants.

The company sucks, their support sucks, their security sucks, and the owner sucks. That's 4 strikes.

Once again, I suggest you use the search feature and compare the number of Webair complaints to any other hosting company. Don't take my word for it or try trolling me when there is plenty of documentation out there.

P.S. Like I give a fuck what YOU think is unprofessional. I'm not here for you business or that of anybody else.

You're wrong.

Although I didn't search Burst, mainly because I've never even heard of them, I just searched DreamHost and in the first page of results, not ONE of the thread titles mentions any complaints about the company. Now, go search Webair and tell me if you find the same results.

I stand corrected.

I thought you were talking about "hosting companies in general", meaning the whole web included regarding complaints. I have now re-read your initial remarks. From them, you were actually talking about (adult) web hosting companies on GFY only.

In that context, you're spot on about a GFY search. My apologies to you fine sire.

Yes but there are also a lot of positive results. I also see in most all of the bad results a reply where they either resolved the issue or the client stated that it was solved properly. Maybe its proportionate to the amount of clients they host as well. I see a lot of the hosts on here do not offer a fraction of the services that webair does. :2 cents:

ISPrime, MojoHost, & NatNet combined don't have as many complaints as Webair. Could be because they are all pro-active in finding and fixing things before they become an issue for the customers. There are good hosting companies and then there are the Webair companies of the world. When Webair fucks up your shit...and they will....You should look into getting a real host. :2 cents:

God no. LOL, I'm speaking strictly about complaints made on GFY.

I've had my share of mainstream hosting problems too but none of them were assholes to me. Webair is "special"

One of my "managed" servers went down yesterday for 2hrs and the technician I talked to as soon as it went down told me he was working on it and would call me back.

30min later and still no word from him, I called. When I spoke the same technician he told me he was looking into it still. When I asked him what he was doing specifically, he said he was looking at the error logs to determine the problem. I said "We have daily backups, please just restore to yesterday and get us back up"

He said he would do this and call me back.... 30min later, I called back. I asked to speak to the same technician, I was put on hold for a couple minutes and the same person came back to me and said "he is still working on it"

"What could he possibly be working on? He should have been able to restore and get the site back up" He put me on hold again and I was able to speak the original technician. When I asked him what is taking so long, his response was "I'm talking to 10 other clients"

I then asked if he had even started the restore and he said "not yet"

It took me contacting everyone I knew at Webair to finally get it restored and live again... and suddenly I can no longer acces my servers via SSH and they can't seem to get me the root access I've been asking for.

I've been hosting with them for 5yrs and I can tell you that everything is fine until you have an urgent problem. DO NOT expect them to make you a priority or communicate with you the way anyone would expect.

This is NOT the first time this has happened, but it is definitely the last. This incident is so minor compared to the nightmares I've experienced recently with Webair's horrible support.

Well I've been there for 8+ years and things have been very solid for me. Support is amazing as far as my servers and support go. I referred close to 10 people there as well who all have the same opinion, but they are mostly mainstream clients.

I'm happy :)

I assume you've never had any major technical problems with them, because in the heat of the moment... you will instantly realize that you are just a number and they have no intention of taking ownership of your problem.

Do you have dedicated servers with them?

CT 05-11-2012 12:36 PM

Oh, and I have made countless efforts to contact them with all of my issues with no real resolution other than smoke and mirrors.

I don't care WHAT causes an issue, you want to feel like they take ownership and keep you up to date.

I had a site go down once, and the webair technician that spent hours working on the problem literally left without calling me back like he promised. He assumed it was resolved when he restored from a backup... 30min later, I had to start all over with another technician.

Same thing happened another time when a webair technician upgraded apache and left his shift before realizing he took the entire server down. I was down for almost 12hrs until he was able to resolve it.

No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.

ContentPimp 05-11-2012 12:41 PM

They are going down. i was a happy customer now i am not.

ContentPimp 05-11-2012 12:43 PM

Yes i have multiple dedicated servers with them and a few cloud servers as well as some CDN. I have had a few issues in the past due to things i tried to install myself that i shouldn't ave, but they fixed all issues i had quickly. As i mention earlier I also know a lot of people that host with them mostly affiliate marketing that have nothing but praise for them. Great company as far as i am concerned.

Ya, I was a happy customer too.

I had occasional problems-- shit happens. They were usually quick to handle tasks/problems and always seemed like they were on top of things, but their support has really gone downhill quickly.

I'm a pretty laid back and very forgiving person, but webair seriously blew it.

I can understand you are frustrated in this moment, but why cut your nose to spite your face>? you say you were there a long time happy, give them the chance to fix it and ask for a credit perhaps? better then making an entire move, and i only say that due to the fact that you say you have been happy to this point.

I forgot to mention this mess started several months ago and has easily cost me 5-figures. I don't want a credit, I want a host that I can trust with support that will keep things running smoothly.

Making an entire move is a nightmare, but staying with Webair would be a foolish business move.

Webair should take this as a lesson and fire all their frontline techs and completely redevelop their support processes and guidelines. Proper documentation should be strictly enforced. If they don't have enough time to document, hire more technicians.

Every technician should be trained on customer service FIRST and learn to take ownership of every client's problem. This is the key to keeping clients around.

I've waited almost 48hrs for root access to all my servers.

I suddenly lost SSH access to one of my servers today and fighting their layers of incompetent support is ridiculous.

Seems like Gerard and Mike have to step in to get anything done in a timely manner.
