Question for the "Google Whores"
 
So with this latest update. How relevant are H1, H2 and H3 tags, if any?

Also would you still try to optimize your meta, descriptions and keyword tags or...?
According to some SEO forums, people seem to be leaving these altogether.

To me, it seems like the future of google is just established link juice and the age
of your domain in regards to how relevant your spot is in the SERPS. ...or am I
just totally missing something?!?

There is no way to know for sure the real value of H1-H2-H3 tags. Only speculation. My opinion is, just use your best judgement.

I was told that META descriptions aren't relevant in terms of keyword density however I know they play a big role in click factor (people read it and then click or don't click) and google has once said that click factor does matter. So that is something to consider.

The age of your domain has long been a factor but not as much as people would have you believe. Plus there is a limit. 3 years, 5 years, 10 years - all seem to be the same - "aged". I think what matters here in terms of age are domains under 1 year. I've been trying to figure that out and from what I can tell there are three categories - baby domains (under 1 year), domains (1 to 3 years) and aged domains (3+ years).

I think you are right about link juice. The value of that has increased drastically however these are tweaks and could change at any time but yes, as of this posting it seems that its all about the link juice.

Google calculates to different values and both are important. There's the importance of the site, primarily measured by PR, and then there's relevance for a specific query. Neither "link juice" (actual PR) nor domain history help at all with relevance, with a specific query. www.whitehouse.gov has great PR and such and Google likes that site. Yet it is nowhere to be found when I search for "competence". Why? because though it's a good site, there's no "competence" there.

If you focus just on PR, you'll be in the same boat - think your site isn't relevant for any search, so it won't be returned at all and your PR won't matter. That said, that doesn't mean I'm saying you should keyword stuff your description, title, etc, or H1 tags. As Kelli said, those determine what the user sees, so making those attractive to humans may get more clicks then placing a few spots higher.

As far as heading tags and Google, see how we basically get five to seven listings, depending on the search term:

Google X 7

Smaller sublistings

The URLs Google links and the titles they use happen to be the links in our H2s. besides Google, using heading tags is good for humans, like those on more limited mobile devices or using screenreaders or custom CSS due to reduced eyesight, as well as other automated systems. So use heading tags, but don't stuff them.

PS - I'm not a "Google whore" and these days I'm not an SEO expert, though I was once. These days I'm just a guy who has been getting some SE traffic for over fifteen years without having to spend a lot of time and effort re-doing things.

There is no value to ANYTHING beyond massive social media spamming.

You can make a page about sensible brown shoes, yet if enough Facebook faggots link to your "pretty white goat" site - your sensibile brown shoe page has a good chance of ranking high in Google's (irrelevant) listings under "goats". Just by association.

Google is useless as a search engine. They want to be Facebook, yet both Facebook and Google are shit. Google: Hey! 100,009 illiterate inbreds named Jim linked to - and recommended - this site. It must be the best one on the web!

IMDB and WIKIPedia re NOT always the most relevant responses to a search query.

Fuck Google, its useless. Its just a matter of time before everyone realizes it...

Of course, the age of the domain is an important factor. The older the domain, the better SEO it gets. I have not heard much about H1, H2 and H3 tags. I think they are not very important for high search engine listing results. Some people replied saying these H tags are just speculation. Yeah, it's hard to know how Google looks at these kinds of things.

I wasn't completely sure about what Link Juice means. I found out after I went to this web site: http://thekeywordacademy.com/link-juice-explained. It's all about creating better links to be compete with your competitors. Google maps out link relationships on an enormous scale and that’s what makes them Google.

SEO experts will look at Google information and understand more. I think beginners are having a hard time trying to understand what Google is looking for.

You can get 10 different guesses from 10 different people or you can build 10 different sites with 10 different methods and analyze the results yourself. I recommend the latter.

so garce, what are you doing, in regards to say, bing? I think bing will continue to get more popular. I read on one of these articles as a response to the new google update that bing is going to benefit in the long term,
from google just being weird on they're alogos...

looking at search results, what you are saying appears to be completely true

filestube is getting page 1 in the serps all over the place, even though all they are is crappy machine generated pages linking to other stuff, but the thing I noticed is they have +24500 Google+1 votes, so google seems to find that more important than anything else I guess, forget about writing quality unique content or h1 tags,etc.... none of that matters for shit :2 cents:
