Google Voice question
Please excuse the stupidity, ive been on sick meds for the past few days and my brain is operating at about 60% :winkwink:
So I have a cell phone with Verizon and want to use Google voice to handle the calls and voicemails, so im trying to do this... My cell is #310... and when someone calls it, I want it to route to Google Voice #323. Then I have it setup to ring on my other cell phone at #717 during M-F 9am to 6pm then right to voicemail after those times. However, when I keep trying to call my #310 number it goes to VM :helpme |
So that cellphone should never ring? I think normally people have people call the Google voice number, then Google Voice determines what to do.
If people already have the cell phone number, you need to forward the cell to Google voice AFTER making sure it works correctly when you dial Google Voice directly. First test that the scheduling is working independent of the silent cell phone, though. Once it works without the silent phone, forward all calls to GV using either the GV app or if you prefer Sanity. PS - If the phone is turned off, the provider will send calls to voice mail and any apps installed on the turned-off phone can't forward to GV. |
I am about to port over my LAND line over to google voice. I use this for business purposes. You can't port over your LAND line over to GVoice. So, I'm going to have to port my land line over to a per per min cell phone plan, THEN port over to G Voice!
All to save 40 a month, but it will be worth it! |
I don't believe you can set times up to do something like that. You can however do that with hostednumbers.com using the find me follow me feature. Hostednumbers is very advanced I use it for my business for multiple employees answering the same line.

I'm thinking I might port my number to Google voice, but D-bags at Verizon say that will cancel my account :mad:
I keep this phone because 1) in locked in a contract and 2) i have a droid POS charge rooted so I use it for 4G data to connect to my laptop and iPad while traveling. You can route calls during certain times, but I figured there wasnt a way to have the person call your #, then go to GV then back to your # :( http://content.screencast.com/users/...05-03_1623.png |
Okay…
Go to Voice Settings. Phones. Program in the phones that you want to use. The checkmarks should be selected for both phones. Now you need to edit each phone. On the edit screen, click "show advanced settings." Voila. |
Oh nice, that must be a newer setting.
|
Oh you want something different, from the initial post it sounded like you just wanted time based forwarding.

Why would yiu forward to Google voice and then back? Just use Sanity to forward to the right place at the right time. |
