To those who live or have visited Japan, have you ever gone to Suicide Forest? I read a comic book about it years ago and thought it was pure fiction. When I stumbled onto this is Youtube, it turns out to be true.

After watching this, I realized this place would be a cool place for the undead to frolic.



"The Aokigahara Forest is the most popular site for suicides in Japan. After the novel Kuroi Jukai was published, in which a young lover commits suicide in the forest, people started taking their own lives there at a rate of 50 to 100 deaths a year. The site holds so many bodies that the Yakuza pays homeless people to sneak into the forest and rob the corpses. The authorities sweep for bodies only on an annual basis, as the forest sits at the base of Mt. Fuji and is too dense to patrol more frequently."

I been to Japan and heard about the place but really didn't have need to visit it :)

Was reading about this earlier today...crazy place to say the least.

This is the research for a Swedish documentary about Aokigahara Jukai, a forest near Mt Fuji in Japan. The forest is famous for being a place where people choose to commit suicide.

Interesting documentary. The terrain is very similiar to what we have in many areas along the Niagara escarpment - lush forest coupled with glacial rock...some would call it 'enchanted'. I can't imagine how that would entice people to simply wander into it to commit suicide.

San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge is another hot spot for suicides.
