I had 100 mbit for years but there isn't really a need for it. I download lots of stuff each and every day and I'm now fine with 25 mbit.

I couldn't get a static IP on ADSL. Argued with my ISP for hours over that one.

The UK is pretty crap when it comes to Broad Band - The problem is I hope to be back in Spain at some point and that will be a shock to the system - Its even worse.

I had 120 mb, didn't use it. Downgraded to 60 mb. Recently upgraded again to 120 mb just because of the upload speed it comes with. (i need to upload a lot lately).
The only time where i'm actually using it 100% is when downloading a torrent file.

I wish they would work on the upload speed. When it comes to that it looks as if we're still in 2002.

Just as signed up to this BT announced a new package with 20Mb uploads.

You can get higher uploads but you're not going to pay consumer prices. Think a couple of hundred a month.

We just switched from 100 Mb up and down to 300 MB up and down.
We are expecting to be able to get up to 500 Mb both ways within a year.

I am in a part of Rotterdam that has been appointed as a testing area for fiber.

Damn you guys are lucky. The fast speed with my current provider is 12 mb on dsl. I could switch to cable and get up to 50 or they may be to 100 now but it's like 5x what I pay now of only $25 a month. I would like to go faster, but what I do have works fine for the 3 laptops, desktop, and streaming netflix on the xbox, so see no big rush to be paying more.

Be warned - after switching to 100mbit you wont be able to stand ANYTHING slower! :)
I'm on 120mbit for 3-4 years now (paying ~12 EUR pm for it) and when I need to do something like 20-30 mbit - I feel it slow like hell.

Although now I see BT are doing 80 down with 20 up.

The Virgin 100Mb is only 10 up.....

Virgin throttle you connection peak times. I've fucked them off a long time ago.

BT aren't putting fibre in near mine until 2013, which is a pain.

I have Sky (not in a virgin area) which use shitty BT lines, so the speeds are never great...

I have 16mb internet at home right now. I'm moving to a new house here in a few more weeks and I'll be getting 30mb with the option of 100mb... can't wait :thumbsup

I remember Cogent where seen as the poor mans alternative - Not for home broad band, but for hosting companies.

$35 a month this is 100/100 fiber. Upload is always bad on speedtest.net for some reason...

They say next spring we will have 1gb/s down and 200mb/s up for $50 :)

I was over optimistic on this - Still have not got it on....

I'm rockin a steady 60 and happy

I have "up to 50mbit" here but I rarely see better than 30mbit.
