Best play by play man in hockey an American?
 

I think so, I find myself watching MSNBC's coverage rather than CBC's because of Mike Emerick. Think he's the best hockey play by play guy now. I do like Chris Cuthbert as well.

best of all time - tie, Dan Kelly and Danny Gallivan.

I'll take Jim Hughson any day of the week. Don Wittman was great in his day too.

i like Jim Hughson but there's nothing really unique about his voice or how he calls a game - he's very good. As was Whittman.

Agree, but that's what I like. I don't like broadcasters who are overly dramatic with their play by play and try to inflect their custom style by actually taking OVER the broadcast. I would change teams if I had to listen to Penguin broadcasts for example.

Homer announcers like Bowen have more personality - i was talking about national announcers who arent affiliated with one franchise.

i love Rick Jeanerette in Buffalo - he's way over the top but Sabres fans love him more than any of the Sabres players.
