FBI is investigating. Like they have any clue how complex this shit is.

Their wager was on Europe. Depends on where that goes.

I think some people are going to disappear.

Houdini 05-16-2012 07:50 PM

Reminds me of Bear Sterns. "Everything is fine" two weeks prior to them closing up shop. Can't wait to hear what other banks are doing the same, because you know JP Morgan isn't the only one doing this. The problem is, most other banks can't take that kind of hit. XLF puts = $

They've been caught numerous times cooking the books and fixing the market. Just another day of business for them. Either way it's all a ponzi scheme.

slavdogg 05-17-2012 01:27 AM

who was on the other end of this bet is whats going to be interesting to find out.

looky_lou 05-17-2012 01:59 AM

Some perspective on this loss:

JP Morgan Chase was the 4th most profitable US entity in 2011 with profits of around $19 billion.

If this is a $3 billion loss, it is 16% of last years profit.

The U.S. national debt rises at an average of approximately $3.8 billion per day.

Watch your US tax dollars go down the drain here!

perspective i guess. The size of the loss is what is shocking, i was going to point out, they can make it back next quarter, by increasing service fees...lol

They were on the other side. It's a hedge on one of their own trades.
