Only if you think American beer consists only of Bud, Coors or Miller. There are tons of great American craft beers, none of which I would suggest serving ice cold.

The big american breweries (bud, coors, michelob, etc) produce pure shit, but the American Craft Brew revival is alive and well, producing some seriously exciting beers.

I agree with you, and what I originally wanted to say was that serving beer ice-cold is an American thing.

I lived in Germany for 4 years and never had a beer served to me ice-cold, or in a frosted mug. (dislike those)

It's true. If you ever get a nice dark stout, let it come up to near room temps and it's another world.

Anyone that thinks beer sucks just has not taken the time to find the right brew for them. There are so many types and flavors out there these days that there truly is a beer for everyone.

I have no idea how not to enjoy it!

Lots of real good beers out there. My bro has a brew pub in Atlanta and they turn out some excellent ones, and some very creative ones.

I'm not a fan of beer, I've had maybe one or two that I liked but don't remember what they were called. Closest thing to beer that I really enjoy is a nice hard apple or hard pear cider.

With Canadian beer, I can't really disagree. I was wondering, what is Canada's definition of good beer? Molson?

Molson? No. Well, we've had microbrews for ages now, and the big union breweries like molsons have added several different choices to their menu I'll give them that. But for what passes for "the best" here it's a matter of taste but I'll say this... Winnipeg's own "Fort Garry Ale" has won the award for best micro-brew in Canada several times. It's pretty awesome actuallly, and would be one beer that I would say I would often make the attempt to drink it chilled rather than ice cold.

But for most union-made big brewery beers, well sorry to the nay-sayers but there's damn little that's better on a blazing hot sunny day than a beerski right out of a cooler packed with ice.... or... a snowbank. ha!

There's only one thing worse than ice cold beer and that's ice cold cider :mad:

ice cold kills/reduces the taste, people drink vodka ice cold because the bad taste is being "reduced", same with beer. If you find beer you actually like you want to enjoy its full taste.

Ps: what is ice cold? I like my beer cold, but not cold as ice :)
