GideonGallery, can you comment on the 72 trillion dollar lawsuit against limewire?

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ? The Recording Industry Association of America is reportedly suing now-defunct music downloading service LimeWire for $72 trillion. Yes, we said trillion.

?An award based on the RIAA calculations would amount to more money than the entire music industry has made since Edison?s invention of the phonograph in 1877,? Judge Kimba Wood states in documents filed at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

In the suit, the RIAA says more than 11,000 songs have each been illegally downloaded thousands of times.

It?s seeking compensation for each download, but with the estimated worth of the entire planet being roughly $60 trillion, RIAA certainly won?t be collecting that much cash.

However, LimeWire could still be ordered to pay up more than $1 billion.

It's retarded, that's what it is.

Nothing else to really say but that.

candyflip 05-24-2012 02:30 PM

Again...just for show. Who's got Trillions, let alone a NOW DEFUNCT company with NO FUCKING MONEY?

This is just free publicity. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Haha

Also, how do you explain it on your credit report?

"Bob, we would love to sell you this 1992 Toyota Tercel. It's a really nice hatchback. You've got your proof of employment and that's good. You've got your $300.00 down payment and thats good. One little thing, when we ran your credit report, we noticed this 72 Trillion Dollar thing, anyway.... what I wanted to ask was, can you pay that off right now so I can get the loan approved?"

So you have used lime wire in the past? :1orglaugh

uniquemkt 05-24-2012 03:42 PM

And they wonder why people don't take them seriously...

DamianJ 05-24-2012 03:50 PM

Yes. More that The entire world's GDP is a great amount to sue for and be taken seriously. The only thing worse would be if the company they are suing had ceased trading...

Oh wait.

Nope never. I still only listen to the shit I bought on CD years ago, so I've already just ripped my own collection.

Can't say I've cared to purchase or even steal music in quite some time.
