Going To See Van Halen Tonight

Catching the show at The MGM Grand. :) One of the shows that has NOT been canceled.

epitome 05-27-2012 03:07 PM

Checking thread date. Yup, today.

This week I learned that the original bassist / co-founder of Styx is a neighbor. Wondered why he'd choose here and then learned he is gay.

Doesn't matter what year it is...EVH is a monster guitar player whether it's 1977 or 2012. :)

What, you live in a gay subdivision or something? Pink Flamingos in all the front yards? :1orglaugh

.

gfyworldnews 05-27-2012 03:28 PM

Given you haven't updated your look since the eighties, you should blend right in.

Live in the gayest or second gayest zip code in the country. And it's technically an island, which makes me laugh. If you are straight you move here with full disclosure that it is the gayborhood. Most businesses are gay owned and we have multiple festivals each year where the main drive is shut down.. Mayor is gay, half the government is gay and our police department is extremely gay friendly. It's the coolest little town of 12,000.

About the thread date, I was just joking. Van Halen is a great band.

candyflip 05-27-2012 04:12 PM

Might be the last of their shows. They cancelled the entire second half of the tour and with these guys who the fuck knows if they'll ever make it back.

Mr Pheer 05-27-2012 04:33 PM

I decided not to go when it was announced that Kool & The Gang will be their special guest. Not dealing with the crowd at MGM for Kool & The Gang, for any reason.

garce 05-27-2012 04:48 PM

Van Halen. Rofl. Too little, too late. Robbie - keep rockin' out, dude! The eighties will be back in about sixty-eight years - so just keep hanging on. Don't lose the doo-rag, rockstar!

Van Halen. Hahahaha! Eddie's hip is older than my long dead grandmother, his teeth are made out of wood, and his wife left him because he's a suck-ass crybaby. Remind you of anyone?

garce 05-27-2012 05:12 PM

Kool and the Gang opening Van Halen? Can we get this post deleted? Robbie already gets enough "real-life" humiliation by watching his "wife" constantly sucking the cocks of stangers.

DO NOT humiliate him more by forcing him to admit he's a disco-loving spineless balding poseur.

Check this video for the wall of amps and gear Robbie's wifes mouth bought him:

Robbie, I'll trade you my one-of-a-kind hollow-bodied Les Paul from the Gibson custom shop for a week with Claudia Marie's face. No matter how many strange cocks you talk her into sucking - and no matter how many gallons of jizz you make her swallow - you will never see an instrument like this.

You just don't have the intelligence or imagination.

I have no idea WHY I make these posts. Maybe its because you're a pathetic piece of shit who couldn't survive in the real world if he didn't convince a woman to suck every cock on the face of the earth? You certainly would never be able to afford that gear if you relied on your musical "talent".

Thanks for the "old" private messages, you cheap pimp.

garce 05-27-2012 05:14 PM

Actually, I just watched the video again and I'd NEVER let you touch my guitars. You are a fucking slime ball.

brassmonkey 05-27-2012 05:15 PM

I've always thought you were one of the most underrated lunatics on this forum.

BlackCrayon 05-27-2012 05:22 PM

saw them in march, they were great. dave can't always hit the high notes like he used to but otherwise, still a great singer and showman. and of course, eddie is god. didn't catch kool and the gang though.

Robbie 05-27-2012 05:28 PM

About to take off in the next few minutes.

I've seen VH twice before. Once in 1981 when they opened for The Rolling Stones in Orlando, Fl
They were horrible. Band was drunk, and David Lee Roth didn't sing even one song. Just walked around waving and dropping his pants and screaming every once in a while.

Saw them again just a few years ago in Atlanta when Dave first came back to the band. It was one of the shows before they canceled the tour for Eddie to go to rehab. lol
It was fantastic. David Lee actually sang his ass off...and EVH was a God.

Right now I'm looking at some footage of their shows from this year posted on YouTube. Eddie is playing great...just mind blowing. But David Lee...I don't know what the hell he's doing! He's singing everything off-key. And he's using a headset mic instead of a regular microphone.
And after watching it, it looks like dogshit for a rock singer to use a headset mic. Just doesn't look "right".

Anyway, it's still gonna be fun. Might be the last time for these guys.
The garden at the MGM is a big ass room....saw Paul McCartney there earlier this year (awesome). It's a sold out show and it's gonna be fun to get to see Van Halen at least one more time.

Why don't you pretend to be some guy that the government of Canada is persecuting so you can ask for donations so u can keep from killing yourself? Wasn't that u? Begging for money, then vanishing when the site was revealed to be on your server? Apologies if I am mistaken

The Porn Nerd 05-27-2012 08:18 PM

Rock on Robbie!! I listened to their new album (CD?) today and it was pretty good! They re-did or finished demo songs from when they were first starting out so all the songs do have that original VH "vibe".

I do miss Michael Anthony's voice and bass-playing tho. Why the fuck is HE so pissed (at who?) that he can't be in the band and we get WOLFGANG Van Halen instead playing bass? Is Valerie Bertinelli okay with this shit?

LOL Diamond Dave and the family Van Halen, in Las Vegas....:)

PS: Garce sure sounds jealous he ain't gettin' his little dicky sucked by CM, now doesn't he Robbie? Haha!!

Saw them in 1972 . . . okay show. Can't remember if it was very hot or very wet, but was definitely out in the elements and one of the shows that turned me off to outdoor, festival style seating.

NETbilling 05-28-2012 01:38 AM

I have seen VH about 10 times over the years. Nothing was better than the Fair Warning tour. I will be seeing them in LA coming up on June 9 as well. I know Dave's range sucks now but I love seeing Eddie play when he has his chops together as he seems to now.

thegreatestporn 05-28-2012 01:50 AM

They were either just in town here or will be here any day. Wish i had tix if it still upcoming here in san diego.

Robbie 05-28-2012 03:02 AM

The show was pretty good overall.

First thing was Kool & The Gang. I would never have thought in a million years to have them open for Van Halen...but they were GREAT! Super tight. And they had the entire arena up and dancing. It was a complete surprise to me...but I felt they were perfect to open the show.

Now, on to Van Halen...David Lee is back to the way he was when I saw him in the early 80's, and that ain't a good thing. He sang when he wanted to. And the rest of the time he seemed to be in another world. lol

Eddie was just incredible on guitar. BUT...as always, the drum mix was horribly muddy and just didn't have any punch to it.

Overall though, I really enjoyed Van Halen tonight. They played quite a few of the songs off their new album. And of course they played all the old songs.

And even though Dave looks and acts like the comedian Steve Martin, you can't help but kinda root for him.
As I said earlier, the footage I saw of the tour on YouTube didn't sound all that great. But being there in person you get caught up in the whole vibe and the coolness of seeing David Lee and Eddie Van Halen together doing those songs that you remember.

So the nostalgia factor overrides the vocal problems for me and I have to say I had a great time.
