Next season they are breaking the next book in the series "A Storm Of Swords" I believe in half so you will get it in 20 episodes but over 2 seasons. Gives him more time to finish off the novel series I guess, plus this book is really long.

Mr Pheer 06-04-2012 04:35 PM

I watched pieces of the first episode and about half of the second, couldnt get into it. But I normaly dont watch TV at all anyway.

But my GF loves that show. I'm waiting for Walking Dead and Hell On Wheels to come back, was the only two shows I watched last season. And some of Spartacus, but couldnt get into the third season of that either. Wouldnt bother me if they cancel it.

Robbie 06-04-2012 04:39 PM

They seem to be doing a book a season.
Well, they better get their asses in gear and film all the seasons now.

By the time they get to the last book...the youngest Stark girl is gonna be 20 years old. lol

And in the actual books...Rob Stark is only 14 years old. As is John Snow and Theon Greyjoy The girls are even younger. I think Sansa is 12 years old. And the hot blonde Mother Of Dragons is 14 or 15 years old in the book.

We have Very similar tv taste. Give game of thrones a shot. Atleast watch the whole first season. The first episodes ARE slow but it gets really good. I watched spartacus and I agree, I couldnt care if it goes on, though it had some SICK battle scenes. Game of thrones is doing really good. Its on the level that I hold Deadwood.

Totally waiting for hell on wheels though. Good fuckin show. Its almost like a spin off of deadwood.

They aren't canceling Spartacus. In fact they are casting for the part of Julius Caesar, already have I'm sure.

Hell on Wheels put me to sleep. It seemed like a low rent Deadwood. Maybe I just liked Deadwood too much and expected a lot more out of Hell on Wheels. I don't know. I didn't really like Walking Dead or The killing until the second seasons either and now I sort of do.

Lichen 06-04-2012 08:18 PM

These shows look so fake, dunno how normal people watch that crap...

Tat2Jr 06-04-2012 08:31 PM

I'm not into fantasy movies or tv shows, but Game of Thrones ROCKS! The story is so good it doesn't matter if it's fantasy.

Pretty sure that all "shows" are fake. It's called entertainment and an escape. :)

I'd much rather watch well written, well acted "shows" than watch the reality t.v. kardashians and garbage like that any day.

Diomed 06-04-2012 09:44 PM

Agreed,

definitely feels like this season went by too fast.

I hope it doesn't start to get silly next season.

And George R.R. Martin better get on in too. He has two books left in the series to write. I read an interview in Rolling Stone with him and he was asked if he is nervous that the TV show will catch up to him and he admitted he was a little bit. He says he is kind of a slow writer and right now book 6 of the series will be around 1,300 pages and he has about 200 of the rough draft written. He said he is actually working hard to clear stuff from his schedule so he can sit down and just focus on this so he can stay out in front of them.

chaze 06-04-2012 11:51 PM

To me, the best thing about HBO is HBO-Go on my iPad.

Danny B 06-05-2012 01:57 AM

I absolutely love the show.
Can't wait for SE 3

DWB 06-05-2012 02:08 AM

Is it only on HBO or can you buy the stream somewhere online?

The Ghost 06-05-2012 02:49 AM

Bought the first season and loved it. Watched it all in 2 days, glued to the tv.

lucas131 06-05-2012 02:54 AM

V_RocKs 06-05-2012 03:08 AM

Viewfinder 06-05-2012 03:11 AM

:thumbsup :1orglaugh LOL, reality tv is the fakest fucking shit on. And dangerous cause some assholes thing that's real. WGA was suing for credits when it first started

History channel isn't that far behind in fakeness. Talk about rewriting History. I'd rather be in Mr. Garrison's class where he was teaching GAME OF THRONES history :1orglaugh

Me too. I love it. Just finally made myself get through the True Blood series and wouldn't have if not for that. That's worth the price of HBO alone. You can stream entire series that go back to OZ and don't have to wait for them to even come on OnDemand

JayDeeZee 06-05-2012 06:35 AM

I started reading the books after last season.

The books are way better! I was a little disappointed in the war at blackwater in the series. Also, the house of the undying was a little weak.

pimpmaster9000 06-05-2012 08:01 AM

they need actresses with bigger tits...the blonde dragon girl is nice but has a micro tit...I heard in the later seasons they will put a big titty red head...that should improve the show considerably :)

Me too, but we gotta remember it's HBO. I think they had a 10 million budget for all 10 episodes. Instead of thousands of boats with tens of thousands of men, we get lots of tight shots. It makes it feel like the battle only involved hundreds. I was disappointed that they left out the chain (huge tide turner in the book), but the wildfire was cool. George Martin himself wrote the Blackwater episode, and he writes only one episode per season.

Chosen 06-05-2012 10:19 AM

It is good indeed :thumbsup

John-ACWM 06-05-2012 10:20 AM

Yup, one of the best series around!

chaze 06-05-2012 11:58 AM

Amazon has it per show for a silly price.

Joe Obenberger 06-05-2012 12:43 PM

It seems to have everything.

I've never been any fan of fantasy until seeing Game of Thrones. With respect, Lord of the Rings and all the lesser fantasy epics bore me.

This one is different.

Characterization - Tyrion Lannister (the Imp) is simply an incredible and memorable character and the actor who brings him to life deserves an Emmy. We all started out sympathetic to the Starks, whom all the Lannisters oppose, but he won us over by strength of his character, wit, and self-effacing charm. The character of Eddard Stark was magnificently heroic and conjured up Thomas More to me; it was hard for me to imagine how the plot could continue without him, because he was great, believable, and noble, but the writers have pulled that off, too, and replaced him with other characters just as interesting. The Khalissi, Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons is the stuff of dreams. The brotherhood of the Black Watch, the intrigue at Joffrey's court, the simple nobility of Winterfell, have all been made believable, three-dimensional places that could be real, and which draw us. The whole world of the Dorathi invites, no compels, interest and attention.

The visuals - except for underportrayal of The Wall - is magnificent.

The plot - complex and sometimes it is difficult to keep all the locales and minor characters straight - is approximately believable.

They have hit on a formula that uses "magic" mainly to tantalize here and there rather than to always function as a deus ex machina that saves the day outside the laws of logic and reason, and they have used enough themes and allusions to comparable events in the real history of late antiquity, the middle ages, and the early rennaisance and its intellectual development to make all of the events close enough to real history so that it all seems strangely familiar.

This series deserves five stars because of that blend of excellent writing and acting, great imagery, and a plotline that is close enough to real history to make everything sort of familiar rather than entirely alien to us.

Too bad those 2 books were rather boring... and it took him what, like 7 years or so to finish the 2nd part of it?

I highly doubt he comes close to finishing the next book any time soon, if ever...

Storm of Swords is pretty fucking awesome. A lot of shit happens to a lot of people and a lot of people get fucked who you wouldn't expect to. I like it as much as the first book.

But yeah the last two aren't really all that interesting except for a few things. This could be why they are rearranging things and moving things from one book into another.

I can even guess where they will end next year but don't want to be a SPOILER!!!
