I just saw PROMETHEUS {with SPOILERS}

I've been a longtime Aliens fan and I was giddy with excitement when I was given the opportunity to catch an early screening. PROMETHEUS is indeed a prequel. But unlike the past movies, the story had a broader scope but it doesn't leave you on the cold. Here are my comments:

- The movie is kinda long. 2.5-ish hours, though I wasn't counting the time.
- Don't drink water prior to and during the movie unless you can pee where you sit. You don't want to miss every minute.
- It starts slow and is dense with exposition. But it never fails to engage.
- Charlize Theron and Idris Elba were underused. I would have liked to see more of them during the movie.
- The CGI and production design were astounding. The original and updated versions of H.R. Giger's designs are still being used in the movie.
- The ending wasn't as satisfying because... the movie appears to be segeuing to a sequal.

The gargantuan aliens are our genetic ancestors. The crew took samples from a dead alien and found our DNA matched.

- These large aliens have visited earth countless times. And their visits have been recorded in prehistoric relics.

- The large aliens developed weapons of destruction that will later turn into the Alien critters. They stockpiled them in the alien spaceship which the crew found in the planet. The movie didn't reveal the answer why they want to bring these weapons to Earth.

- The planet turned out to be an alien outpost.

- We see ancestors of the face hugger (which had evolved from worms) and the first throat extending Alien monster.

- You will enjoy the part when Noomi Rapace gave herself an abortion to extract the alien critter.

- I just found it odd that the remaining crew of the ship decided to kill themselves to avoid the aliens from flying back to Earth.

- We finally see who the owner of Weyland Enterprises.

- Besides the abortion, nothing too nasty. But the movie is still quite good.

- No formulaic ending where heroine boots the Alien monster from the escape ship.
