Will Google+ Overtake FaceBook?

Predictions?

What say you?

u-Bob 06-06-2012 07:52 AM

Google+ will fail. Main reasons:
lack of intuitiveness.
lack of demand.

BIGTYMER 06-06-2012 07:52 AM

No way..

Major (Tom) 06-06-2012 07:53 AM

google+ sucks
ds

candyflip 06-06-2012 07:53 AM

Facebook popularity is waning. The only other real option is Google+

Brujah 06-06-2012 07:54 AM

Is it sending any traffic?

seeandsee 06-06-2012 07:55 AM

Not in million years, dont see how...

Avalana 06-06-2012 07:55 AM

never ever

TheSenator 06-06-2012 07:56 AM

Google+ sucks but Google is pouring tons of money into it.

Google Places has been replaced with Google+ Local.

Google+ influences SEO and will have a greater impact in future algorithm changes.

Google will merge with Facebook and Amazon.

Freaky_Akula 06-06-2012 07:57 AM

90% of G+ users are seos and spammers.

AllAboutCams 06-06-2012 07:58 AM

YES YES it fucking will so narrrrrrrrrrr

EddyTheDog 06-06-2012 08:01 AM

Slowly but surely it will happen.

How many of you would have said that Chrome was going to be the number 1 browser 18 months ago?

SomeCreep 06-06-2012 08:03 AM

Nope. Facebook's lead is too great. Its like asking will anyone ever create a service that overtakes itunes? Nope. Apple's lead is too great.

Klen 06-06-2012 08:05 AM

Google+ users are mainly Google employees :D Also social network fame is generally in decline, people start realizing how they just wasting their time there.

ninavain 06-06-2012 08:06 AM

Apple will buy out FB

People used to say the same thing about Yahoo, Netscape, Explorer, Firefox, & MySpace.

:2 cents:

centerz 06-06-2012 08:19 AM

i think google+ will fail, maybe it's already fail, like all google projects, except google search & adwords

BFT3K 06-06-2012 08:20 AM

For a few years Facebook has been the new toy in the room, but it's shine is rubbing off fast. Google is not going anywhere, and they won't give up.

I think Google+ is maybe their 3rd attempt at a social network, and even though it isn't currently the cat's meow, Google does tie its business tools together better than FB does.

What are FB's tools anyway? As a business you can set up a page, and hope for "likes" ? Is that a real business model? Google also owns "search" on the web. I have never used FB to find anything of importance.

Facebook will have to change radically in order to survive the next few years. Google only needs to tweak its all-inclusive approach.

2intense 06-06-2012 08:20 AM

both sucks

Timsb 06-06-2012 08:21 AM

I don't think it will

Danny B 06-06-2012 08:39 AM

I don't think so, FB is just too far ahead

Professor12 06-06-2012 08:43 AM

Facebook will be gone in 10 years. it is a bubble. Look at Myspace. Facebook is the new myspace. and soon something else will take facebooks place

Wizzo 06-06-2012 08:44 AM

I doubt it will be Google+, I know personally I abandoned it when I started getting more random people adding me to circles then people I knew. That's not to say something else will knock FB off the top of the mountain in time.

Android
Google Talk
Google Voice

Just a few of the other Google projects that are successful.

and the first examples of failed Google projects that come to mind:
Google Buzz, google X, Google Catalog, Web Accelerator, Google Video Player, Google Answers, google wave, Wiki Search, Google Radio Ads, DodgeBall, Jaiku, Google Notebook, Google Page Creator, Shared Stuff, SearchMash, Google Lively, Google Print Ads, Google Knol,...

You're right about all of their failures, but you have to admit... Google will not give up! They will try and try and try, and when they succeed they dominate.

If Facebook fails, it just fails. They don't really have an established core like Google does. At the moment FB is just a massive time-waster. They may evolve into something more useful, or they may be gobbled up by Google or Apple or some other giant player, but if not, they won't survive.

If Google+ fails, they will just learn from the mistake, and try something else 6 months later. They will eventually succeed.

From a "big brother" standpoint however, governments may have FB's back, so that is an unusual variable that can't be taken lightly either.

Who knows...

AliceInBondageLand 06-06-2012 09:10 AM

G+ is the framework that Google is using to try to integrate a lot of its products... they are also POURING money and man hours into it. Here to stay.

Even if the user base never takes off, it will be the main/only way to do things like YouTube and their GeoLocal stuff.

FreeHugeMovies 06-06-2012 09:10 AM

Did you post this just to add to your post count?

Nope. I'm just interested in other people's opinions and insights.

thegreatestporn 06-06-2012 09:30 AM

Facebook will fail the same way myspace did. As soon as corporations start taking it over with pages and advertising (not saying thats good or bad), people will leave. I prefer G+ over facebook personally. Then again, i rarely use facebook.

I have close to 900 FB friends, maybe 20 that I don't know what our connection is.

2400+ people have me in their G+ circles. I might know 20 of them,

Tom_PM 06-06-2012 09:46 AM

I never made a Myspace account, but it was HUGE at one point. I made a Facebook account, but really dont use it. I keep getting asked to "upgrade" my youtube account to google +, but let me be seriously honest here.. I don't even know what the benefits of it are, or really what it is.

I think they have some marketing work to do.

Hmmm, something just doesnt add up :winkwink:

"Currently it has a total of 170 million active users"

I'd not think google has at least 85 million employees.

Horny Dude 06-06-2012 10:22 AM

I think social media sites as a whole will slip downward. I know a few people who thought it was cool telling everyone you were having dinner or watching a TV show. Now its just the same shit. I haven't posted a couple of months and just lost interest. The only thing I do like is Twitter, but just for the up to the minute news and events.

MediaGuy 06-06-2012 10:29 AM

That's absolutely impossible. Google+ is for knowledgeable/insider web users... my MOM can get on Facebook - actually she thinks Facebook IS the internet...

Google+ is doomed...

My two cents...

:D

SiMpLe 06-06-2012 10:46 AM

Nope - I think + has already failed tbh

Google and amazon need to stop letting programmers do design.

That's sounds about right.

I have a lot of connections on G+ and don't know most of them. At times when I post something it feels like I'm talking to myself.

As specifically, and ONLY, a social network platform, FB is clearly the winner of the day, no doubt. Tomorrow however, is anyone's guess.

Now can I finally claim my "Captain Obvious" award?
