Hyperlink Virus Help?

I initially noticed this on one of my own sites but now I see it's on every text-centric site I go to, for the most part.

When I go to certain websites I see certain words have been hyperlinked and link to something related to the word. So for a sentence that includes "Recent College Grad" it grabs "College Grad" and hyperlinks it to some college picking website. For "She knows how to work a cock" it highlights "work" and links it to some "Work from home and make $77/hour" site. So, apparently I have some hyperlink virus?

I've done a google search for a solution but all the results are old so I'm suspect of the solutions.

I ran a long Avast scan but the issue is still there.

Anyone have any experience with this and can send me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

If you had not said it was on one of your own sites, I would have thought you were talking about something like SkimLinks

You can see it working at http://www.gotbaddog.com/torrance-ki...er-fundraiser/ - Last line, first paragraph, where it says and Dom Perignon champagne.

That what you mean?

Run a scan with malwarebytes.

Yup. Exactly what I mean. But if the virus is on my computer how would you be able to send me to a site and give me the specific words and link on another site? Unless YOU, Baddog, are in fact, the purveyor of this maliscious virus!!!!! Damn you Baddog!!! But seriously, it's confusing me how the virus can be on my computer but you can direct me to the same thing on another site.

That's the thing, what I showed you is not a virus, that is why it was confusing that you said it was on your site. Maybe check your site for something embedded?

But I am experiencing the issue on sites that have nothing to do with me. I did, initially, think that my sites got hacked. But then I noticed nothing unusual in the code, no unusual logins to my server, nothing unusual at all. When I showed it to someone else they did NOT see the issue. So then I went to other sites not related to mine and I saw the issue again. At that point I surmised that the issue was a virus on my computer.

If you notice the example I gave said "powered by skimlinks" at the bottom of the popup box. Yours doing the same? But if it is not showing on someone elses that is weird.

Virus/Malware or maybe even a browser plugin/addon.

Do you see it on all browsers? IE, Chrome, FireFox or whatever you use.

Idk, could it be some type of plugin you unknowingly downloaded on to your browser? If you quit your browser and use a different one, do you still get the links?

Best of luck

Yes, it says Powered By Text-Enhance. Googled that but I'm afraid to click on their site. :-(

Ugh, hate when I don't think of simple things. You are correct. It's happening in FF. Just checked IE and it's NOT happening. So guess it's a FF plug-in/add-on.

Found "Recent Updates". Only one yesterday. Disabled it and the issue seems to be resolved. :-) Thank you. 3 hours of working on it myself, got nowhere. 30 mins on GFY, issue solved. Huge thanks.
