It teaches you to do boring tasks and work with others.

It also shows someone hiring that you can focus and complete a task.

It is needed to teach people how to write coherent thread titles.

I'm getting ready to develop a class system for first responders on how to handle major outbreaks, attacks, etc. Classes include "crisis decision making and prioritization". I would hope they learn something useful from this school.

Some of the math and English I learned in high school has been useful to me, as have college accounting and law classes.

There are a number of reasons:-

1. Baby-sitting service, so as parents can go to work i.e. get them taxed

2. Cage the minds of the smart, hinder them in their attempt to come to their own logical conclusions, bombard them with propaganda e.g. "Vaccines are really good for you", "9/11 was Muslims" etc

3. Teach children to respond to authority, For Life!

4. Confuse natural logic, create a nation who cannot think critically leaving them vulnerable to propaganda e.g. PR Glen

5. Indoctrination for everyone i.e. teach 'Official Story' of society/history

6. Keep the kids away from their parents as long as possible, leaving little time for parents to share their stories and ideas about this world.

Something is fucked up for sure in the american schools. No reason for 4th graders to not be taught every multiplication under 10. Shit, the chinese are probably teaching 4th grade calculus. Time for some upscale in these classrooms.

If you see little kids just starting out, they run to the bus stop or school. They want to learn and read and write. But somewhere along the line it happens. Bad teacher(s). Mine were 4th & 6th grade. They didn't care about learning just discipline. Hated school after that.
I do think about 4th or 5th grade boys need a man teacher. I saw that in my son's school. The teacher they had from kindergarten (private school with all grades combined) suddenly the boys especially moved on new schools. The new schools had men & women teachers who taught different subjects.
If you can just keep that fire to learn in them, that's the most important thing. Once at a teacher-parent meeting I said my son won't read. he replied, "I just don't like to read for fun. Obviously I read as I'm getting straight A's, so I read the material."

To dumb down the sheep.

Government schools in the US are a joke. A sad, sad joke. Just like pretty much everything else the government touches.
