Why do updating sites remove updated tours?

I noticed gfrevenge.com and hazeher.com for example are still updating but have removed their tours that feature the newest update. When this happens I noticed my sales drop.. so if you are still shooting new content atleast offer a tour option with the newest update :)

Maybe they are testing some things.

Freaky_Akula 06-24-2012 01:11 PM

DWB, they can test new things AND still offer the old tour as on option.

A tour made from the newest updates will never sell as well as a tour with the best updates.

Not sure but I have a theory that it MIGHT help sales in some cases to avoid mentioning the name of a model or the shoot in certain promo material. I suspect some people just use the updates and promo material to get the names of the models and the scenes they want and then they go to a forum, filelocker, or DMCA tube to get them instead of the site. :( Not giving away information might make some of them buy as they could find it harder to find the full scene otherwise.

That could be why they have removed these tours :2 cents:

It's sad and a sign of the times but if I owned a pay site this is what I'd do. I'd advertise my site and brand still in the watermarks but I wouldn't publish the name of the models or the scenes on promo material or tours. Make it as hard as possible for them to type "<model name> oron.com" or "<scene name> oron" into Google. Let them pay if they don't want to spend hours finding out which scene it is or which girl they want.

I think many people forget that lots of surfers really are attracted by one or two scenes or girls and then go for the impulse buy. Make them pull out the old CC instead of using your tour as a preview for knowing what keywords to type in Google or PornBB to get your full scene content.

Those sites do awesome for me.

For my marketing I want to see every update listed on the tour. I want my marketing to show the surfer exactly what they will get.

I don't want anyone taking a guess as to what my surfer could like as everyone is different.

i've always wondered about this - my tours feature preview photos of the newest sets/videos added, wondered if conversions would be better if I just chose the 10 best photosets and videos and be done with it.

there's probably some traffic that does better with newest updates tours and other traffic that does better with best updates tours.

teennutsuckers 06-24-2012 10:14 PM

good question

DigitalTheory 06-24-2012 10:24 PM

so why not do a recent greatest updates/recent updates mix?

I think it gives surfers a bit of hope to see recent updates so they "think" the sites recently updated. even if it is just recycled content looking like new updates......

Konda 06-24-2012 10:54 PM

It makes more sense to show what sells best instead of what's new. The what's new might work for returning visitors but for the majority of the traffic it works much better to show the best content first.

They are constantly making small changes and split-testing stuff to get the best convetions.

Tijuana_Tom 06-24-2012 11:09 PM

And who decides what the best updates are? Member polls constantly updating?

Show proof of "Best Updates" selling better than "All or Recent Updates"

That only limits the sales potential to people who were attracted to the thumbnails or trailer you posted for those few updates.

Another tip is showing the surfer you update more than once a month.

This shit is soo basic.
