Well...just for the record...I did not think it would become a Western style democracy but instead would be some type of Islamic Theocracy and I will not be surprised if it turns away from the West and turns to the Russians...as it was at one time allied with the Soviets...before we bought them out.

Not exactly, this may turn in to a majority despotism sometimes and that's why we call for plurel democracy, so what you said is an old arguement which is tested to be not working already.

This wasn't a shocker, but what was surprising was that he only won with 51% of the vote, and things are still quite divided. There are already protests about the vote. It will be interesting to see what happens. I think that if they try to turn it into a theocracy really fast, (like post-Shah Iran), that we will see a lot of blood in the streets again.

Not exactly, although he was dictator which is not preferable he was better at social liberties which you would realize in daily life, for example: he tried to run modern law and Sharia law together which people picked from the courts they wanted to go, he didn't censor internet as well but only some bloggers have been jailed due to political reasons i think.
