What is the longest time you've kept your Windows 7 box on?

What is the longest amount of time you've kept a windows 7 desktop or laptop on? I know, it's no linux but I would think it would be safe to leave it running for quite a bit without rebooting, right?

A couple months. Usually by then it starts to get sluggish and stuff starts hanging.

Usually the only time I restart my laptop is when there's an update it needs to be rebooted for.

iwantchixx 06-27-2012 08:13 PM

Only when the updates require it or when swapping hardware. Longest I did was 3 months recently. Surprisingly, that's very good for me.

The only Win7 box I have is my HTPC. Couldn't even tell you the last time it was rebooted.

sandman! 06-27-2012 11:22 PM

there is usually some update that requires a reboot about once a month for windows 7

seeandsee 06-28-2012 05:05 AM

windows 8 will have updates without reboot, sweet

blackmonsters 06-28-2012 05:43 AM

Every single day when I'm using photoshop, movie makers, Flash etc...

The more work I do the more I have to restart.

I consider home computing to be a failed experiment that I'm stuck with trying to
make a living.

probably a month or so...
booting takes too long...
I must upgrade to SSD and reinstall the windows for a speedup....

I haven't rebooted my desktop Window 7 Professional in over two weeks.

AdultEUhost 06-28-2012 06:59 AM

mine (and all the others at the office) is on 24/7, running Win 7 Ent x64
Updates are run every 2nd Tuesday of the month and normally cause a reboot
