Wow, a teenager was actually appreciative of an adult!

A few months ago the GF and I went with a friend of mine and his wife to a movie. It was a mid-week night and very few people in the theater. As the movie started a group of five teenagers 2 girls and 3 guys came in. They were drinking and being young and dumb. Four of them left after about 10 minutes and one girl stayed. All of a sudden she fell out of her seat and was laying on the floor. My buddy goes over to see if she was okay and finds her puking her guts out. We get her up and out of the theater where we find her friends talking to someone that works there (another friend) the girl then falls down again and starts puking more.

My buddy is a cop so he takes charge and has the kid that works there call 911 for an ambulance and get a manager down there. The girl was 16 years old and weighed maybe 110-120 pounds and had drank a half of a fifth of vodka in about five minutes. She can't stop puking. The ambulance gets there and takes to the hospital where she is going to get her stomach pumped and my buddy gets her number from one of her friends and calls her parents. He leaves his card with the manager in case he needs to contact him and we leave. The manager was very happy we helped her and gave us all several movie passes.

So now, a few months later, that girl tracked my buddy down. drove out to the department he works at and personally thanked him for taking charge of the situation and helping her. she told him she was dumb and drank so much so fast when it all hit she blacked out. She doesn't remember anything about the night, but knows that she could have easily passed out on her back and suffocated on her own vomit.

I don't know if her parents put her up to it, but it was pretty cool hearing a teenage admit she was wrong, thank someone who helped her and let them know that it had affected her life in a way where those people are no longer her friends and she has and is making changes to her life.

Maybe there is still hope for some of the current generation.

Sounds like you guys definitely deserved some thanks, nice to see her give credit where it is due. :thumbsup

Inspiring story. Good of you guys to step in and help out. I like to think her parents didn't force her to make the effort to thank you all - and instead did it of her own volition.

:thumbsup:thumbsup

Looking back on it the funniest part of the whole thing was my girlfriend going off on her friends. Once the ambulance got there and we knew the girl was going to be okay she lit into those kids and basically told them there pieces of shit for letting her drink that much and then leaving her alone in a theater while she was blacking out.

When we get back to the car my buddy said to her, "Remind me to never piss you off." lol

Same here. Just based on what she told him she dumped those friends, hasn't drank since and is doing better in school. I would guess her parents had some influence in this, but it sounds like she just decided to get herself together.
