What's the best software to use to make animated gifs?

There's a program called 'photoshop' that works quite well... perhaps you've heard of it?

if you wanna do it from a video, use a splitter like boilsoft video splitter, and use adobe media encoder and select the output as gif, then use fireworks to resize it.

If you want to make a simple gif with a few rotating images, then picasion.com will work fine...

Any simpler package? Maybe something from sourceforge you guys can recommend?

I know this eastern piece of software .. it has the most minimal requirements .. it's called Madko ...you just send an email with your request..push SEND .. and you get the work done .. and is 10-15 times cheaper than photoshop.
