Ernest Borgnine, TV and film actor, dies at 95

Oscar-winning actor Ernest Borgnine, whose career spanned more than 60 years, has died, his spokesman has said.

He died of renal failure in a Los Angeles hospital with his family by his side, his spokesman Harry Flynn told the Associated Press.

Mr Borgnine, who was 95 years old, continued acting until recently with a role in the hospital drama ER in 2009.

He won an Oscar in 1955 for his role in the film Marty.

Another good actor from the past bites the dust. Spongebob Squarepants lost a superhero.

My favorite role of his was from the 70s horror movie "Devil's Rain", in which he costarred with William Shatner. Creeped me out as a kid...and still does when I rewatch it for like the 50,000th time. Rest in peace, Sir! :thumbsup

Ernie's wife ( Tova ) had a cosmetics empire in the mid 80's located in BH. I worked the phones selling cosmetics to women talking about their T zones and Ernie would come in and hang with the telemarketers.

Cool guy. RIP Ernest...
