Sponsors that have sites missing from the affiliate area

No promo content, no links, nothing .... so you either assume you can link to it with your code by formatting the link the same way you do for the other sites, or don't link to it.. because it was in the site list but is completely missing when you log in ......

 :Oh crap

Of course you can check and see if the link you made tracks hits .. but seriously .. if you want to have an affiliate program, take an hour to make the affiliate area at least that complete

Having worked for a company that "killed" sites in the affiliate areas before I can say there is usually a pretty good reason for removing them from the promotional area. Usually because the site is not updated any longer and it failed to make sales. Have you tried contacting their affiliate rep to see if they can send you the linking codes and maybe some promo material that they have inactive inside their program? I used to do this often when a webmaster made the request

I agree....OR - depending upon the circumstances of the sites itself - it's also possible that the specific site might be partnered with someone, who {Lord only knows why} doesn't want it to be in that affiliate program.
Stupid to have happen, but, I've heard of that before.

Some sites may not be listed on the affiliate program page, but you can still get sales to the non listed site, when grouped using CCBILL.
