Exactly.. I'm not a success, but saying that porn is dead is a completely idiotic statement. As already mentioned, work hard, work smart.

Zoxxa 07-15-2012 08:11 PM

Was thinking of starting a thread like this myself.

Colmike9 07-15-2012 08:18 PM

lol. The only thing that's dead are old marketing and SEO methods..

I will be starting a whole new thing that will revolutionize the adult industry.. It will be TGP3 (1 page, ONE thumb linked to the sponsors site) Yes, I know, this is unheard of, but it will bring us back to the glory days. It will make us a fortune. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Gone are the days of making an easy dollar, but porn is far from dead.

Anyone who disagrees has the wrong mindset.

Porn will never die, it's just being slimmed down.

I would like to add some things to your list, which people need to know.

Research the product. #4

Research your customers. They're people not numbers. #5

This will save a lot of time testing sites you shouldn't be pushing in the first place.

lucas131 07-16-2012 01:15 AM

the problem is, that once you find what works, you have to dig that idea while it works, and it may be boring like a shit, still doing the same, again and again and again and again, oh man ... money are there, but find the energy to do every day the same ... oh, man ...

OldJeff 07-16-2012 01:23 AM

Not really, every porn is dead thread is another chance to counter mindless nonsense and nostalgia. LOTS of money to be made. Just need to stay focused on what is important.

The problem is the 1,000 others who copy you doing it and dilute the returns. Without finding something that can only work for you, the risk is always from people copying you.

IMO these "Porn is dead threads" should be welcomed by those in porn. Think of the positive effect they have.

Exactly.

If you treat it like a job, by that I mean... putting the 8 hours in, M-F, you will still make money easily.

:2 cents:

tony286 07-16-2012 05:11 AM

I agree with Paul ,I dont think its dead but alot less people are going to be working in it. Porn cant sustain the number of people that were working in it during the internet boom. Its going to go back to its level.

this is it, the most important part, take it as a job, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. its 40 hours of working on something and making a product, it is not 40 hours per week sitting on gfy, emails, facebook and other timewasters and thinking how hard do you work ... have luck and good inspiration everyone! :thumbsup

American Psycho 07-16-2012 05:32 AM

I just came inside 2 chicks mouth, hasnīt got paid, I did it for the content for future updates for my website,

I think the level might be in line with the level of 1980. Include retail when you think of the level, all the shops that used to sell magazines/softcore videos, right up to hardcore porn shops, cable, phone sex. And think global.

exadcr 07-16-2012 08:12 AM

Very few people make money selling porn anymore or any services associated with the adult industry. It is for most people a dead industry. Most people who say they make alot of $ in porn are full of shit and just say it to look good but could never actually prove it if they had too.

Quote:

Well all those threads wouldn't be created in the first place if there actually was a lot of money in porn.

signupdamnit 07-16-2012 08:51 AM

It's not the same deal as an affiliate as it once was. There's still money to be had for some. But there are lots of people trying to blow smoke up your ass. Especially those who can profit from you. If they get 100 people to send them 2000 more clicks a month it all adds up nicely and all is fine for them even though those individual affiliates might make $0-$35 a month. Even better if they just shave the little guys so badly that they never have to actually pay out anything. 2000 clicks a month at 1:20,000 means one sale every 10 months.

There are lots of webmasters bullshitting about what they make too. I know one here who recently claimed they still make $60,000 a year from adult. They are very vocal about adult being better than ever. But you can go to another forum and find a post from them a few months ago admitting they only make $6,000 a year in this industry. :upsidedow

Some of the people who participate in these threads do so because they are trying to convince themselves. Others not so much. Don't shoot the messenger. Just telling it as it is.

DISCLAIMER:

The above is written from an "affiliate's" point of view. Not true for 'the industry' on the whole.

No offense meant to the O.P..

Of course it was written from an affiliate's perspective. It states that in the very first sentence. It's true for the industry to some degree as well. If it weren't true people wouldn't feel a need to post that it wasn't. They would laugh and then shut up and make more money for themselves. They wouldn't give a shit about what others think because they know for themselves.

How do you know there aren't hundreds of affiliates, thousands of affiliates, laughing in the background right now at these very threads, just as you say they would be doing?

Because GFY post count is the real measure of success, and if you do not have 10k posts you cannot possibly have any traffic, or sales, duh !!!

I think this is closer to the truth.

For a long time I was accused of putting off shooters from competing with me. Which makes perfect business sense. The less going into my market place, the more left for me.

So who do the "porn is shrinking" threads effect?

Those making a good living as an affiliate? No way, they know their true position.

Those struggling? No way, they know their true position.

Those who don't want more competitors to take their business? Yes, they should welcome the posts of gloom. It deters the 5% who could make some money and ultimately it comes from the same pot. The pot they feed from.

Those who need reassuring all's fine? Yes, they must need their daily dose of "Everything's fine."

Those with something to sell? Yes. Those selling the "Join my scheme and I'll make you rich" The snake oil salesman want the newbies to jump right in.

http://www.piginshit.com/wp-content/...l-salesman.jpg

Deterring competition from dipping their snouts into your troth. Is simply business. The less people, the more left for those in the business. Affiliates and new sites, don't bring a new batch of buyers. Wish they did.

Nicky 07-16-2012 11:53 AM

It's not dead. It just got harder for affiliates and require actual daily work.
