For dog owners

So interesting thread the other day got me thinking...someone asked if our gf got a trashy tattoo would you break up with her? So I wondered if your dog couldn't get along with your gf how long would try to make it work? Dated girls before and my dog would always be eyeing them, barking at them if they moved suddenly. Needless to say girls would feel uncomfortable and would be hard to have them over. Anyone have protective dogs?

I have a very jealous dog that will park herself in front of a girl and howl. Pretty funny.

that's funny

Kiopa_Matt 07-20-2012 05:43 PM

My dogs are very protective / defensive, but only until I let them know the other person is friendly. If someone they don't recognize comes to the house, they can expect to have the dogs tell them to fuck off. Once I let the dogs know the person is friendly, all is well.

Well, except for the vet. They hate the vet. That's the guy that sticks needles in them!

She also places herself between a new female and myself. She's real gentle though and really likes anyone after a week or so.

My dog cock blocks me every chance she gets, if chicks don't like dogs they usually hate my house.

I was dating a girl and we were making out on my couch when my old dog came by us (was a jack russell) and he lifted his leg up and pissed all over her shoes that were sitting right there...I couldn't stop cracking up :)

I had a rescue dog that was terrified of men. She made a few of my male visitors feel like convicted criminals, that's for sure. No matter how gentle they were, she would jump every time they stood up or even looked at her. My current dog is a love-slut and loves all over any man who will look at her. Except anyone carrying mail or the Orkin man. They are her mortal enemies.

Next time, try English. I don't even know what that is.

my girl never had dogs growing up and I got my english bulldog...she fell in love with Bruce the bulldog..now we have 10 bullies and breed them professionally for the past 2 years

My dog is a pet and that's that. If I was in love with a woman and felt that strongly about it, the dog would go.

This is my first dog, about eight years now, great experience. Black lab, got her very well trained really.

Really?? I mean I guess I see where you are coming from but my dog is basically my first born. Definitely glad that they get along but I'm just reflecting on past girls. And if a girl really made me pick I'd prolly side with my dog without a second thought

I got Buddy from my girlfriend. They both know how they fit in the equation.

ottopottomouse 07-20-2012 08:58 PM

Would only get rid of a dog for a baby.

trevesty 07-20-2012 09:03 PM

If my GSD doesn't like you, there's probably a good reason for it... so yes, I'll dump/cut ties.

beerptrol 07-20-2012 09:59 PM

I'd get rid of the gf before I'd get rid of a dog. Dogs seem to be a good judge of character, loyal, and great company.

Paul Markham 07-20-2012 11:56 PM

Yes. My first dog, also called Rajah, was very jealous. He wouldn't let a GF sit next to me, he tried to get in between. He would bark at my Father if he sat next to my Mum. If he shouted at one of us boys, the fog would growl and the hair would stand up on his back.

He once attacked a man who shouted at me, the man was about to attack me. Didn't see the dog until he hit him. :thumbsup

If my dogs don't trust a person, I don't.

Tried, tested and proven.

Smart little buggers they are.

You need to take better control of your animal. :2 cents:

This is applies to every normal dog (don't mean those puppet-like small creatures chihuahua). They do defend their master and the really hate the vets :2 cents:

You need to talk to Cesar.

tony286 07-21-2012 10:50 AM

If I was single considering my dog would lay her life in front of mine without a thought. The dog stays the girls goes. Also dogs have a real sense about people if the dog don't like her there is probably a good reason.

Yeah I totally buy into this after seeing how mine has acted around certain people before
