Need help with ffmpeg mobile encoding
 

Hi,

So I'm currently using this settings for my mobile sites:

-acodec libfaac -ab 128k -vcodec mpeg4 -b 300k -mbd 2 -cmp 2 -subcmp 2

But I notice the videos are poor quality. I was looking for a better quality...
So what you guys use?

By chance is this for MechBunny? That looks the the default settings in MB config file.

I went through the same thing, could not get a quality mobile video at a decent bit rate. The solution... dropped ffmpeg and installed Handbrake on the server. Now they look great and have a MUCH smaller file size than I could achieve with ffmpeg.

I went through the same thing you are going through now. Took me about a week of beating my head against the wall. I was limited with the mobile encoding line in the MB config file and could not for the life of me figure out how to do 2 pass encoding or some other tweaks that are needed for a really good encode. Everything I tried resulted in an error or the video not being compatible one one of my devices or a much larger file size with quality I was not happy with.

Send me an email (in sig) and I'll send you some links that will help you. Your host should be able to set it up on your box, you just need to get MB to use it.
