The last time the crime rate for serious crime ? murder, rape, robbery, assault ? fell to these levels, gasoline cost 29 cents a gallon and the average income for a working American was $5,807.

I think one reason murder is down that they left out is that medical technology has skyrocketed in the last 20 years. These days they save many people who wouldn't have had a chance at survival 20 years ago.

Lots of suburbs do not have public transportation.:winkwink:

Really it's down? We had shootings/murders almost everyday a few months ago in Lexington. and I heard Louisville was even worse...

Kinda goes in the face of the criminology paradigm that hard economic times = more crime.

I wonder how much abortion plays into the equation?

Many murderers cut plea bargains and were put away for manslaughter instead...?
