I use pptp on my workstation, openvpn on my phone. I really only use pptp on my workstation for the convenience factor. I've tried various methods of running open on my workstation (linux) and none are as stable and convenient as pptp is. Could be it's just me though as I feel safe enough with 128bit encryption and haven't felt like wasting more time worrying about open.

Incorrect. While Open may have stronger encryption, PPTP does indeed have encryption as well. Open is generally regarded as more secure for the simple fact that PPTP uses standard username/password whereas open uses certificates and such. Read more here on the actual differences between pptp, l2tp and open: http://www.ivpn.net/knowledgebase/62...s-OpenVPN.html
