Alice in Chains

Just got around to checking out the latest album from Alice in Chains (2009) "Black Gives Way to Blue"

It is pretty much what I expected. A more "mature" sounding Alice

all these guys arenīt dead?

kazymjir 07-29-2012 12:42 PM

Into the flood again, same old trip it was back then

BlackCrayon 07-29-2012 12:57 PM

I thought it was pretty good. Of course you can't beat the stuff from back in the day but a good album and not something that seems to be obviously trying to repeat themselves.

wasn;t it the old bassist?

oppoten 07-30-2012 03:49 PM

Sounds alright. Better than the new Soundgarden one.

L-Pink 07-30-2012 04:07 PM

Yea, original bassist Mike Starr and lead singer Layne Staley both dead from drug overdoses. Man in the Box is one of my all-time favorite songs.

Alice in Chains rock! Grunge lives on!

Alice were a great band and not easy to continue without Layne who had unique vocals... New stuff reminds me of Jar of Flys, I like it!

I never liked Alice in Chains, until Black gives Way to Blue.

Excellent album. like you said, more mature, and also more subtle.

its amazing you could be one of the top rock stars in the world and during your peak, hole yourself away in an apartment and waste away for 6 years with hardly anybody seeing you until you OD

All Staley cared about was his needle. Pretty sad.

I wouldn't say its a simple as that. He was ashamed of what he became. He tried rehab many times but just couldn't stay away from it.

awesome performance :thumbsup

tony286 08-14-2012 04:48 PM

The benefit they have is alot of the vocals were sang by the guitarist. He really shared co lead signer responsibilities with Layne. So its kept that sound.

Brujah 08-14-2012 04:51 PM

Time to rewatch Cable Guy

Brujah 08-14-2012 04:56 PM

This guy William Duvall is the new lead singer for Alice in Chains?

2MuchMark 08-14-2012 05:45 PM

They are great. Saw them live last year. Less show, more serious music.

SkinBoysCash 08-15-2012 01:06 PM
