I purchased a little Android dongle that runs pretty much everything Android and uses a motion sensor remote to control it. Cost under $70. |
And who cares if they're shooting it at 4K or whatever. No one has the capability to display 4K in anyplace other than a theatre.
|
I don't watch enough TV to care either way.
The 62" Sony in the basement is mainly devoted to the XBox360. The 42" Samsung HD flatscreen in the bedroom is the wife's conduit to Dr. Phil and Rachel Ray. I watch the 28" oldie in the living room for 10 mins. in the morning to oggle the weather girl and figure out if I need an umbrella or sunscreen. |
I'm not an early adopter of tv tech, so this is not too exciting for me. Our 42" tv is hooked up to an HTPC that we watch Netflix and the news on. No cable here.
If "they" are already crying about internet "tubes" being filled up with bandwidth demands, then how do they intend to broadcast this new signal? |
Maybe I can pick one up off Craigslist

"The sound is much better too. HD surround-sound uses 5.1 channels and is very impressive. Super hi vision uses 22.2."
Who is going to have 22 speakers and 2 subwoofers in their home theater (or movie theater, for that matter)? Also, how many of your satellite or cable TV provider's channels are in regular HD at this point? I'd say less than 30%. It's not like they are suddenly going to devote a shitload of bandwidth to transmit this new shit when the majority of their channels haven't even upgraded to regular HD. Going to be years before this sort of stuff is even relevant. Probably 10 years. |
My Samsung Series 8 is 240Hz and it gives me motion sickness sometimes. I dont want anything more hi-def than that.
|
that's completely pointless technology in my opinion. Oh it'd better the HD.. who cares.. not practical at all. When/IF it comes out it will be a waste of money. There is such a thing as "too much of a good thing" in this case. There will not be a TV network in the world that will give you that type of video unless you are paying a very high insane monthly price. .Again, USELESS!
|
dont buy it yet, next will be super duper hi vision.
|
Now this is HOT! I am glade I don`t have time anymore to watch TV so I can crave for newer ones :)

check this out: "OUYA is a new game console for the TV, powered by Android. We've packed this little box full of power. Developers will have access to OUYA's open design so they can produce their games for the living room, taking advantage of everything the TV has to offer. Best of all, OUYA's world-class controller, console, and interface come in one beautiful, inexpensive package. All the games on it will be free, at least to try." they already have more than enough to start their project and this is going to be open source + very very cheap:warning |
I admit I watch a lot of tv or play my PS3, I have a 60inch HD plasma in my basement and a 46inch LED in my living room (which never gets used). I've had my 60inch for 1.5 years now and am thinking of upgrading it to a 70inch, the wall it is on is a big wall, so it would look pretty sweet. My Fiancee thinks 60 is big enough tho and won't let me buy it.
If a TV like this came out I'd defo be interested so long as Sony brought out a new PS that could demonstrate its powers. One thing I'll always upgrade to is a better TV. |
I don't :pimp

out of date? maybe, but its like buying a bus ticket for the year 3842, totally useless :2 cents:
regardless of how sharp the image is, 16x or 16,000,000x times. 3D, 4D or even smell-o-vision, it's completely useless unless you have video that supports that... meaning, movie makers, TV shows, etc., all need to upgrade their already insanely expensive equipment to handle this. when I lived in LA, they had HD news casts out pretty quick. Here is normalville, we just got our news casts in HD. Think they are going to cough up another few million for 17280p? doubtful. Thats why you don't see a lot of 3D content either. |
